A distraction would be rather appreciated at this point.

Harvey laughs. "What, haven't you heard? It's in The Rules that you can't be a lawyer unless you're willing to publicly read something that's one, dull as Hell and two, absolutely incomprehensible."

"Which is why I'll never be a lawyer," Renee replies.

"Is this for anything in particular, or just light reading?"

"More like heavy reading, really, this is a pretty thick book.

"But there's nothing in particular I'm working on at the moment.
"Which may explain why you're bored enough to read this damned thing."
