Okay, she'd spent the entire morning scoring drosophila by phenotype and sex ... and she was almost too tired to stand, mostly because she'd signed up for the Metal-working class and it was evenings and she still had to get up early, but -- she was just distracted enough to more or less drop her books on to of Eliot before she notices that he's there.
There was a very unheroic squeak from beneath her as he scrambled to make sure Lady Dawn was undamaged (though some part of him figured the old girl was probably a little tougher than the average violin). Then he looked up, annoyed...
Before seeing it was a very very pretty blond girl who'd dropped her books.
Then the scrambling was to put the books all together for her.
"I was planning on sitting down, actually," which meant that she could be at least mildly annoyed that someone had taken her spot, "I've got to read sixty pages of HOX genes before tomorrow morning and I've got some sort of smithing exam tonight."
She didn't move to stop him from picking the books up, though, particularly because if she decided to move to another spot she'd need them anyway. Which was why she flashed him a slight smile.
He straightened his glasses and gave her a faint smile.
"I could... um, well-"
He'd read plenty of books.
"Here," he finally said as he handed her the stack of books, "though there's a book on the library that has much better coverage of-- unless it's for an assignment."
He blushed.
"Sorry. This is all a bit new. Grandmother never really assigned work like they seem to here."

"Just a minute- I've got them," he assured her.
