Salim Malik - Slumdog Millionaire (mid-movie) - That one Bar

Mar 02, 2009 21:03

A pillow drops to the ground and exposes the Colt 45 clenched tightly in a young man's fist. There is fire enough in his eyes that anyone with good sense would do well to ignore him and keep on walking by. His breath is coming in quick, uneven bursts and his pupils are dilated.

It suddenly occurs to him that the floors here are cleaner and the room has people in it -- he can smell the tobacco and liquor in the air.

"JAMAL!" When he whips around, expecting to see his brother and that -- girl, that snake, Latika, the reason that he just shot a man (Maman had to die, he knows that, but doing it now like this with witnesses and -- it was this girl's fault, Jamal's fault for being so unable to just let her go and be content to be his brother again...) but they aren't there.

His hands shake a little harder.

Like a trapped dog.
