Daisy'd been coming to see her grandmother ever since she could remember. And every night, she would fall asleep in her grandmother's bed, lulled to sleep by the sound of her breathing, deep and even.
But tonight, she finds herself unable to sleep, no matter how she tosses and turns.
She gets up, careful not to disturb the woman sleeping next to her, and reaches for the bedroom doorknob.
And when she opens it, she's in another place completely.
Benjamin had first arrived in his wheelchair. He doesn't need it anymore, but there are a pair of crutches propped up against his bar stool.
Turning with a little difficultly, he manages to avoid knocking them over.
He'd know that voice anywhere. Using one hand to grab onto the edge of the counter, he uses the other to wave, at first hesitantly, and then more energetically.
"Daisy?"
And there's a very definite (childish) joy on his face, glasses moving just slightly up the bridge of his nose as he smiles.

"... oh, my."

There's so much for her to see.

For one thing, there's people. And lots of them.
But she does recognize one face, and her expression immediately brightens as she rushes over to him, completely oblivious to everyone else.
"Benjamin." The warmth in her voice is evident, even though she's still so young. "Where are we?"

"Milliways," he says, in a confidential tone of voice.
"The bar at the end of the universe. Folks from all over come here. Folk that're the same, folk that're different."
Benjamin pauses, glancing, for the briefest moments, out at the bar before his attention is once more fully on Daisy.
"An' this is Miss Bar."
A napkin, a little faded, a little yellow, appears on the bar top.
Hello, Daisy. It's nice to meet you.

Barty's an odd little boy, too, but in different ways.

It occurs to him to be polite a few moments later, and he turns his head to look at Barty.
There's potential playmate material, here.
He's a little too shy to ask 'do you want to play' outright, and, instead, pushes a handful of the soldiers over towards the - other boy.

"I didn't know she did toys. Can I play?"
Barty never sees other children, and is used to his uncles being his only playmates.
Reply
"Sure."
