Severus Snape - Post DH - That Bar

Sep 04, 2008 03:44

Recluse he has been, Severus Snape is not gone. Just busy.

Today he brings doiwn from his rooms a package, and goes to the bar; he's gotten used to not having owl post -- the Bar's delivery system is even more reliable. Several vials of various fluids in a box marked EXTREMELY FRAGILE! VOLATILE CONTENTS! DO NOT DROP! is put on the bartop and ( Read more... )

And, someone does. In fact, it's a young teenage girl in her school's uniform. The man was a strange one, and she had followed his movements from the time he set the vials down on the bar top to the time he slips into the booth in the shadows of the bar. It's at least a seat close to her, so she turns and gets to her knees in her booth and looks over the back at him.

"Hello? Are you from Tokyo?" she asks calmly.

Severus' brow arched. "No," he said, very clearly. "I am from England."

The girl looks foreign, all the same. Does he have to explain the bar to a newcomer?

She saddens for a moment. "Eh, Sorry...for a second there, I thought I might have found a normal person."

She smiles gently, perking up again, as she introduces herself, "My name is Kaname. Nice to meet you."

"I am Severus Snape," says the man.

He fails at adding politeness.

You would think that would be the last Snape sees of the package, but no. Mere moments after he finds his corner, the bar presents the package to Mia, who had just arrived downstairs.

A much younger Mia than he had seen before, one who looks to be about the same age as the Draco he's met.

"Thank you, but I won't be taking it to Draco," she tells the bar. "Right now, I need a change of clothing."

The package is taken back and replaced with a small bag of clothes.

Which is nearly dropped when she sees Snape.

"Oh! I hadn't realized you had just delivered that package!" she says once she reaches said corner containing Snape on her way to change. "I'm sorry, the bar had presented it to me to take to Draco."

"Well, you are his missus," Snape says, looking up from his seat. His brows scrunch, and he says, "...we have met before, Mrs Malfoy? Or are you indulging in youthening potions?"

This whole time dilation thing bothers the hell out of him, but -- he's stuck. Static. Enduring.

"Well no, not really. I had seen you in the rememberizer I gave to Draco. Something like a Pensieve, he's said."

Wait, what did he say before?

She starts blushing at the Mrs. Malfoy part, looking very much like the young woman in love that she is.

"No one calls me Mrs. Malfoy," she says. "But I do like how it sounds."

So it's a privilege he's allowed to indulge in, it seems.

Severus smirks slightly. "Yes, you have met me. Or will. Some years from now, I must assume. Really, it can get quite tiring having to figure out who I'm talking to and when in their timeline I am."

Still, he gestures. Women in love are not to be hated; he wanted one once, and -- some part of him is genuinely pleased that this woman loves his student, that he has not blown it yet.

Yet, however, is the operative word.

"I'm Severus Snape. A pleasure to meet you again." ...for the first time? Second or third? Who can say.

Some time after that blasted grog snake sickness matter was finally over with, Draco emerged, a bit paler and thinner than usual.

The bar appeared with the package and note, and he beamed.

"Oh brilliant." This will indeed help his business greatly.

"You're welcome," drawls Snape.

You better thank him!

Of course he would. He was just getting to it.

"Oh you're here. Thank you very much!" He remarked.

The former potion's master just tilts his head in a slight nod. "They were most unusual specimens. Magic permeates most of them."

Annoy him?

Surely not.

A teenaged Lily Evans walking into the bar might shock him...but hopefully not -annoy- him....

It might make him choke on his tea, that's for certain.

Lily takes a seat at the table next to him and pulls some cards out of the pocket of her robes; one of them is in handwriting he should recognize quite well, given that it's his own. She reads it with every sign of enjoyment and affection, touching her fingertips to the envelope as she does.

"Dear Severus," she murmurs, with a fond smile. "Always so very proper."

He is not a young man now, and it has been years since he wrote anything like that. Still, he watches her with dark, wary eyes.

"Always," he says. What he's answering to may not be what she said-- but all the same, it's there. His eyes are black and hard, and his guard is certainly up; trying to gauge her age --

-- trying to think; is this before he said that goddamned word or after.

If Sara annoys a person, it's normally with purpose. Severus had been cordial with her before, and she certainly has no inclination to annoy him now.

At any rate, she's rather engrossed by whatever is under the microscope.

'Cordial' is something of an overstatement. He found her boring -- as he finds most Muggles. Hell, most people.

No greeting is given. Why would it? She was just a woman he didn't know in a bar.

Sara's personal definition of 'cordial' encompasses anyone who will not try to pin her under a Jeep and leave her to die in a desert.

It's a very broad definition.

Whatever she sees amuses her. "It's hard to break the laws of gravity," she murmurs to herself, making notes.

Only for a Muggle is not spoken.

Broad defintion. Severus' is far more narrow; there's no reason to approach her or be friendly, so he does not.
