Zoe's step is gentle and unhesitant, as she walks the path with no obvious memory of how she got here or when. One hand in the pocket of her red coat, the other hanging free, she walks forward with an interested - but relatively emotion-free - eye on her surroundings.

Her free hand occasionally twitches. If she was to acknowledge that soemthing was worrying her, it'd be that occasionally it feels that there's something solid there.

From the trees, she's watched and there's birdsong and something that could be laughter though there's an edge.

The trees beside her shift and change the deeper in she goes as if testing what she wishes to see.

Occasionally Zoe will stop and watch a tree that she's sure was different a second ago, with a twitch of an eyebrow that indicates mild puzzlement. But she never stops for long; there never seems any point.

It's the sounds she's more likely to react to; birdsong makes a faint smile appear. Laughter makes it inclined to go away.

A breeze through the trees brings the temperature down a few degrees and she huddles into the warmth of her coat.

The wind holds a voice that can't seem to decide if its human or something that asks,

"Lost or looking for something?"

One thing about the sun's glare in the desert is it makes a good psychopomp. Add to this dehydration, a bullet wound and a natural tendency to see the blurring around the edges of reality and it's no wonder Drake finds himself in the Veils outside of the Mojave desert.

Question is, did he get to where he meant or is this just another road through?

(OOC: I don't recognize the character so please let me know if there's more you'd like from the Dreaming.)

The trees which can't seem to decide if they wish to be windswept pines or towering oaks lean towards him and the wind tries to find a way to his wound.

[OOC-That's okay I have no idea who he is either. An OC that popped into my head one day; weird west outlaw with magic or something.]

He turns into the wind and pulls out a silk scarf to wrap his revolver in. Wouldn't due to offend any natives he came across and if that China man was right, silk should deaden the iron.

A bird drops from a tree to become a young woman with feathers on her arms and in her hair. She's wearing jeans with a tank top but there's a hint of something more around her,

"Who do you fight?"

There's a little girl exploring the path, not sure if she ought to.

But it is there, and she loves exploring.

The bushes ahead (where they really there a minute ago) rustle and a tall dark shape starts to push it's way through.

"You stay away from me!" the little girl tells the dark shape. "Or the king will lop your head off with his axe!"

The figure stops and stands up proper before turning carefully to look just over the seemingly little girls left shoulder.

"I'm sorry if I trespass, I mean no harm," he says, his voice warm and cultured though the shadows cling to him.

"Oh thank Danu," Morevna says bursting through the undergrowth when she spots the path. "Damn side quests always pull you off the road."

Tiwa's sitting up in a dress and calls down in a voice with a lot of song in it,

"What are you questing for?"

Somewhere else, Kite is visiting her brother.

The nights in Fetero are warmer than she expected; it is hard to sleep, so she goes to walk in the palace gardens. The plants are not as lush as those at home--pricklier things bred to last in this arid kingdom. She likes them immediately.

Halfway through the garden, Kite is reasonably sure she is not in Fetero anymore.

She keeps walking.

The trees bend and shift trying to figure out the shape she wishes as a bird with a song she might recognize sings.

The trees thin and lighten until they look most like birches, but still aren't quite like any tree on Earth. They also move a little too much to be normal trees.

Kite tilts her head, listening, and takes her next steps in the direction of the song.

A setting sun is setting behind the trees but its colors are shades rarely seen on Earth and a little bird flies down before turning to Tiwa, "Hello."
