Okay, let's go ahead and see if we can't get this community going again. I only got a few people to respond to my post back in October, but what the hey, let's do this anyway. Non-theme suggestion: exchanging playlists and mp3s? I have a whole stack of CDs I've gotten from this comm that I rip as soon as I get them, and promptly never touch again. Can we note who prefers physical disks and who prefers files only, as to diminish shipping costs? I am, of course, still perfectly willing to contribute disks to those who still like them.

I'm glad to see this back. I missed the mixing!

And I can serve as mailing hub now, if liked/necessary. I'm in Boston, Mass.

Personally, I feel like mp3s are contrary to the spirit of the thing, but maybe that's just me. Anyway, a combination of physical and digital in the same swap would be a bit of a pain, logistically. And as long as anyone doesn't want to make digital copies, shipping costs wouldn't be affected much (I don't think there's a difference in the cost of shipping one CD vs. a small stack of CDs).

Boston might be a bit more central than my location in The Middle of Nowhere (aka Ellensburg, WA). I'd like the job, but don't mind if you want it instead. As long as the mixes are mixing again, I'm happy!

I don't *need* the job, if you enjoy it. If you're done with it, however, I'll be glad to be your relief.

re: mp3s. It was a suggestion. I'm forever looking at ways of de-cluttering, and not keeping a stack of CDs is one of them. No worries! I'm sure I have friends who will be glad to get hand-me-downs of this variety. :)

I'm in obviously, hurrah!

Regarding the CD Vs Mp3 debate, while I knock out download mixes like there's no tomorrow I've missed the opportunity to make a proper mix with artwork and whatnot.
Plus getting a package in the mail is a small beacon of pleasure in the bleak dullness of my existence and without it I would be sad.

As for themes I was going to suggest a covers mix but felt it a bit too obvious and cliché, since Olive has suggested it too then how about a covers mix?

I was also thinking maybe for the first time, to ease us back into, we have no set theme, just whatever we fancy doing.

I'm glad this community is making a comeback. Now I need to visit LiveJournal more often so I can keep up with it!
