fact that we let the cord stop pulsing before we cut it
Are you kidding? It seems like everything I have been reading lately that it is desireable to wait until the cord stops pulsating so baby can get that last surge of iron rich blood from mom.
It sounds like Dr. P is a real jackass. I have no idea how I would have handled him.
I too hated the monitors and ended up being on them the entire time! Yet at the office I was told 20 minutes of every hour.
I had a hard time dealing with her umbillical cord coming off too. It was like the life line that connected us for all those months was gone.
Your birth story is wonderful. It is great that you did not have to be at the hospital that long before the baby arrived. I was there nearly 24 hours and the longer you are there the higher the risk of interventions. I definitely learned my lesson about many things with this one.
Congrats on your little Baloney. She has such a good mommy taking care of her. :)
yeah, I've been wondering what to do about it. We did make a formal complaint to the hospital business office about the Ped and some equipment problems they had not only with Bev's birth our pp care, but with Tony's endoscopy he had two weeks prior.
But the nurses were fantastic this time. Of course, we brought them a basket of chocolate :)
Thank you. Having my support network in place was just perfect. "JUST IN CASE" is why we hired a doula. Just in case Tony didn't get to bed (again), etc. We'd planned as best we could and talked at length over the years how to make sure Katie WAS at my birth this time around.
I had a doula in training offer to drive from (near) Indianapolis to Morehead to be a doula for me. I refused because I didn't want to put her out and I wish I had let her...God I wish. :/
He was. Like my doula told me, it was as if he was punishing me for going natural. It was pretty obvious all natural was the large exception. Bully nurse quizzed me for 5 minutes about medications and pictocin, etc.
You mean you've not had pictocin. No ma'am I don't even have a heplock. They were all freaked out. I assured them I was fine.
We of course never let the baby out of our sight - except for a middle of the night weight check when no one else was around and the nurse - well I work with her father and I knew she wasn't going to pull anything on us after what we'd went through.
AND we asked to be discharged immediately as possible on Tuesday - which everyone agreed too. :)

I found several in Kentucky (all out of Lexington, I might add) at least 2 I talked to personally and I know of 2-3 others by word of mouth.
I went with Amanda b/c she's Jeni's BFF and Jeni is the gal that gave me my blessing way and is too cool so I knew she'd work out for us in our heart.
so at least know next time there are some here relatively. Frogsmom may know of some more, too.
