News blackout

I feel as if I'm living in a country run by a repressive regime with a state media organisation which broadcasts only selective items. I'm referring to the BBC TV's blanket coverage of the Olympics. The TV channels can be very annoying, can't they? On NBC here, which is carrying the Olympics, they seem to spend more time interviewing relatives of the athletes than showing the actual events. And the commercials go on FOREVER. Almost impossible to watch very long.

At least we've got other channels to go to if we want actual news.

It's a bit frustrating when one topic ONLY dominates the news.
The coverage in the US was HORRIBLE, I thought. It's much better here in Spain. But at least it's not the only thing being talked about given Spain's economic woes.

I tend to listen to the radio rather than watch TV, except for films and feature programmes. The World Service is very good and my favourite programme is 'From our own correspondent'.

Yes I agree. I made a FB status update last week where I just listed news articles that were not Olympics based to sort of make a pointless point.
