All in Photoshop. There's a link to the technique here or you can google "fake miniature" to find several tutorials.

Basically you make the image super sharp, saturated etc. if it isn't already. Then you use quick mask to apply a gradient filter, then apply lens blur to the unmasked areas (top & bottom).

My trouble is, I haven't learned the basics of Photoshop yet but I want to do the fun things first. Patience never was a virtue of mine.

Live Search maps do quite a lot of 'birds eye' views. I've enjoyed using it on my searches of where my ancestors lived.
