here “Clark? What are you doing here?” a voice behind the brunette caught his attention. He turned around and faced Victor and AC.
“Hey guys,” he managed to say, his heart jumping out of his chest. Now, how was he going to explain his presence in Ollie’s bedroom? God I hope they didn’t see me lying down on the bed. Clark prayed with all his heart. What was strange was that he didn’t hear them coming.
“Hi, you didn’t answer my question,” shot back Victor.
“Well, I was looking for evidence that might help finding Oliver,” Clark replied, ill at ease, feeling as if he was being interrogated.
“In Oliver’s bedroom?” Victor asked, looking suspicious.
“I’ve already looked in the rest of the penthouse,” Clark replied, uncomfortable with the situation.
“Did you find anything?” AC asked.
“Nope, nothing,” Clark lied; the evidence he found was far too intimate. “What about you?” he asked.
“Nothing either,” Victor replied and sighed. “Come on,” he added, heading toward the living room. Clark followed them, relieved that they didn’t ask any more questions.
“Where’s Bart?” Clark asked, suddenly aware of the younger man’s absence.
“He’s looking for Ollie somewhere even though he’s got no idea where to seek,” Victor replied. “But you know him, he’s Impulse,” he added with a smirk.
Clark just smiled back and sat on the couch where AC joined him while Victor was checking the security system on Oliver’s computer.
“So, how have you guys been doing?” Clark asked, not really knowing what to say.
“Good, but Ollie’s kind of been absent-minded during the missions,” AC replied, frowning.
“Really, you know why?” Clark asked, although he was perfectly aware of the answer. He remembered that not a long time ago, Ollie had to leave Metropolis for a mission, and the separation had been really hard for both of them.
“Nope, he’s been acting weird,” Victor replied and rose from the chair to join them on the couch. “There’s nothing on the computer, no archive was found,” he added, crossing his arms on his chest.
“I can’t believe someone managed to abduct Ollie; he’s usually so careful,” AC said with a sigh.
“We don’t know for sure he’s been abducted AC,” Victor shot back.
“I’m almost sure he has,” a voice came from behind them. It was Bart; he looked exhausted and was breathing heavily.
“Hey Bart,” said Clark sounding surprised, seeing the younger man heading toward the kitchen. He came back in a flash, a sandwich in a hand, a bottle of water in the other.
“Hey guys,” he said, taking a bite of his sandwich. “I was looking for Ollie, but he’s nowhere to be found,” he added, looking disappointed.
“I think he’s really been abducted and is being kept God knows where,” AC repeated, sounding worried.
“I don’t know, I’ve tried to track Ollie’s heartbeat, but I got nothing,” Clark said.
“You can do that?” Victor asked, looking stunned by what he heard. “You know Ollie’s heartbeat?” he added.
Clark Kent, you’re an idiot. How was he going to explain that? He was so embarrassed; the three others were staring at him with questioning eyes.
“I uh…I’ve tried, but I can’t recognize his heartbeat from others’,” he replied, with what seems to be one of the biggest lies he’s ever told someone. Clark knew Ollie’s heartbeat by heart, even though this hadn’t helped him finding his boyfriend. Nevertheless, the others seemed to buy his lie and Clark was satisfied.
“Well, we should go, if you find anything Clark, tell us,” Victor said, standing up.
“No problem,” he replied, watching them entering in the elevator and sighed with relief when he saw the doors shut.
“There’s definitely something going on between Clark and Ollie,” AC said bitterly.
“I know, first, Ollie is distracted during the missions and now Clark is acting strangely too,” Victor added.
“What are you guys talking about?” Bart asked, confused.
“Never mind,” AC told the younger man who started to sulk.
Clark had heard the conversation from the penthouse. They were suspecting something; he wasn’t that good at lying after all. Anyway, he didn’t care if the whole world knew about his relationship with Oliver. Now all he wanted to do was find the blonde and have him back.
Day after day, Clark kept looking for his lost lover, in vain. His pain was growing every day; it had almost been a week since Oliver disappeared and he had no idea what happened to him.
A couple weeks or so since Oliver’s disappearance, Clark’s hopes were fading away as his fears were growing. He was back at the farm, after a long night of researches and the sun had already risen.
Suddenly, he heard it. A heartbeat. Oliver’s heartbeat, he could hear it. Not thinking, he ran, following the sound. In an abandoned field, he found him, sitting on the ground.
“Thank God, Ollie,” he said and saw the blond man jumped at him and hugged him back.
“God Clark,” he heard his boyfriend say as he was sobbing. Clark glanced at the man behind Ollie as he was stroking his bare back. Who is it? Clark thought, and couldn’t help but notice how the other man was handsome and he wondered what Oliver was doing with him in the middle of nowhere, almost naked.
“Everything’s okay now,” he said, meeting Oliver’s brown eyes who nodded.
“We should go,” he added.
There wasn’t time for questions, so he handed his hand to the other man and carried both of them on the way back home.
