Clark followed the couple up to the exit of Metropolis. They were heading toward Smallville and he could be easily seen with so little traffic. So he just gave up, not being able to handle the situation anymore, and he just went back home, lonely. He went to his loft in the barn and laid on his couch where he couldn’t hold back his tears anymore. He was crying in silence, thinking about Oliver, not understanding why he was cheating on him. After all, their relationship was great. Even the rare times they fought; they reconciled a few hours later.
He stayed there several minutes and the sun was setting. It was hot and the soft sun rays were coming into the barn through the window. Clark had some moments of bliss of this languidness that follows the tears. He missed Oliver’s warm body against his, the safety that his strong arms brought him and he realised he hasn’t slept alone ever since he was with Oliver. However, he felt like sleeping here, on this couch and before he could realize it, images of a handsome blond man were already invading his dreams.

“Clark, wake up!”
When he opened his sleepy eyes, Clark saw one worried Chloe Sullivan by his side.
“Chloe? What are you doing here? What time is it by the way?” Clark asked and yawned.
“It’s almost 11 Clark, when I got here I didn’t expect you neither to be still sleeping nor to be alone,” she replied and sat by his side, making him sit up to let her some space on the couch.
“Oh God Clark, were you crying?” she asked. Seeing his red eyes, she cupped his face with her hands to see clearly. Clark suddenly remembered the cause of his misery and he felt more tears w coming, which surprised him since he never thought he was so emotional. Chloe seemed to understand what Clark was about to do and she hugged him, stroking his back slowly as he was crying on her shoulder.
“According to your reaction I assume you know about Oliver?” she said quietly pulling him away to meet his sad green eyes.
“Yeah…But how do you know?” Clark asked between his sobs.
“It’s in the newspaper Clark, don’t you know?” she replied, giving him the daily planet. Clark took a look at the front page. “OLIVER QUEEN THE LATEST DISAPPEARED BILLIONAIRE” was printed in bold as the main title of the article with a photo of Oliver under it. Clark’s face couldn’t hide his surprise when he read the article. As if he wasn’t already distressed enough, he had to discover that his boyfriend had not only cheated on him but was now vanished to God knows where. After a few moments of silence, he finally met Chloe’s gaze who looked worried.
“I…I didn’t know…,” Clark finally said.
“What do you mean, you didn’t know? Why were you so upset then?” Chloe asked, confused.
“Yesterday, when I was about to join him for dinner…I … found him with, um…another woman,” Clark gulped, uncomfortable.
“So…what? What were they doing?” she asked but when she saw the pain in Clark’s eyes she understood. “Oh…I’m so sorry Clark,” she said softly. “I would’ve called Oliver Queen many things but unfaithful was definitely not in my list,” she added with a bit of anger.
She took a tissue and dried Clark’s tears. “Come on Clark, there’s probably an explanation. I have seen you both together and I’m sure what’s between you and Oliver is more than serious,” she said with a reassuring voice, seeing her best friend drowning in sadness and sorrow.
“I don’t know Chloe, I always thought so too,” Clark said “But somehow I always wondered why someone as great as Oliver would stay with someone like me,” he added.
“Don’t say that!” Chloe exclaimed in a reprimanding tone, “You know you’re great Clark and Oliver knows that too, that’s why he loves you,” she said.
“You’re right, I guess…,” Clark said and sighed. He was glad to have Chloe by his side. “Thanks Chloe to be here, you’re really great,” he said and managed to put a small smile on his face.
“Hey what are friends for?” she replied and hugged him. “Come on, get up,” she said cheerfully. Seeing Clark’s disconcerted face, she added “Why do you think I came? We’re going to look for your missing boyfriend, come on!”
“Chloe, we’ve already tried to find the others and we ended with nothing,” Clark said and was met with Chloe’s threatening gaze, which convinced him to follow her. They went to Oliver’s apartment first and found a deserted place.
“Clark, check this out,” Chloe said, handing him a piece of paper she found on Oliver’s desk.
I’m sorry Clark, I found someone else in my life, my soul mate.
Farewell, Oliver
Clark recognized Oliver’s writing and felt even worse with this note.
“Oliver left a clue, Clark,” she said.
“What is it?” he asked, feeling some hope coming up.
“Come on here,” she said with a wave of her hand. Clark came by her side and furrowed his eyebrows at what he saw.
“What the hell is this?” he demanded.
