“Oh, you’re terrible,” Penelo laughs, running her hand down his chest to the faint concave of his stomach.
Larsa laughs as well, though more curt and near-serious than hers. “I hereby issue a formal decree and any ostensibly ‘terrible’ pun that graces these excellent lips be lauded as ‘excellent’, as befits his Excellency.”
“Ah, so you’re ditching ‘Majesty’?”
“Only because puns cannot be majestic-solely excellent. I have decreed it so.”
“Sure they can.”
“Kindly regale me with an example, my lady pirate.”
“A good pun invades the senses, covets foreign objects, spans multiple territories-”
“-deposes previous rulers of conversations,” Larsa continues for her, intrigued.
“I was going to say ‘kills’, but that’s not very majestic at all.”
“-and a great pun incites further punning, propagates its own legacy,” he finishes, upending their position and pressing her into the rumpled bedclothes.
“…You are terrible.”
“No,” he corrects, leaning in to kiss her. “I suppose I’m excellent.”
Oh! As though my heart was not lost at the thought of them being broken up before! Whenever you write these two together (whether they're on the verge of throwing things at each other because of impetuous teenagers or not), they're magnificently fun. They're so wonderfully sweet together but also
(Larsa being 'curt and near-serious' when Penelo says he's terrible-- hit a bit close to the mark there, eh? ;)
so hazardous, what with Larsa's deception over his long-term plans always hovering over them. Whenever you write a couple, there always seems to be a delicious frission of tension there and though there's so much less here than in (say), that excellent Ashe/Vayne drabble below, it's always there. That's a lovely constant in your writing and thanks so much for this! ♥
