There's just something so incredibly touching about Kara nursing and taking care of Kon like this, with her own heartache so deeply locked away. I imagine that this would be something she had often did for Kal when he was a child too, every time he was taken ill.

Yess, I'm glad that her grieving came through--I didn't want to dwell on it painfully, but it does insist on making it into the story here and there. And I just love the fact that she took care of a little baby Kal (maybe he had the Winathian flu himself?)...just a few years ago in her mind, so odd.

She had known Krypton when it was once solid and earthy, when it was still flesh and blood. That's a loss one couldn't even begin to imagine, but Krypton lived on in her, as trite as it sounds.

I agree, I do find it endlessly fascinating that all three members of the family (four if you add Power Girl) have such very different relationships to their Kryptonian heritage.

Thanks so much for the awesome prompt!

This was so lovely! What a beautiful interaction between these characters. I LOVE Kara's comment about how Kal tends to mythologize his parents, and how to her, they were just people. The descriptions of the music were wonderful; too. I really like the idea of Kara playing Kryptonian music for Kon, helping him touch a piece of his cultural heritage. She's an important link for both Kal and Kon.

Mmm, thanks! I always like anything that explores how Kara has a different kind of link to Krypton than either Kal or Kon (and of course their relationships are different in turn!) I imagined how I would react to seeing my aunt and uncle as gigantic looming statues, lol...

*hugs you and this fic so much*

The one thing that I want to see more of in the comics is more Kara and Kon teaming up. So I'm always happy to see them together in wonderful fic like this.

I agree, Kara and Kon would make an awesome team, and they're woefully under-utilized together. I'm hoping DC decided to run with it now that things are a little more quiet in the Super titles for the time being...

Eeee, Kara and Kon! :D Poor ill Kon. *pets him* But it seems Kara took good care of him. :)

I loved the line about Jor-El and Lara! It's true, to Clark they're really distant figures, but to Kara it must seem so strange seeing the statues like that.

And pretty music too! I wish I could hear it, lol. :)

Can you imagine seeing your aunt and uncle like that? I totally understand it for Kal, but Kara has to find it pretty weird, sometimes...

I should go searching for music I think sounds Kryptonian, lol. Sigur Ros is one of the bands that I always think of, but I definitely need some theramin music too...

This was just beautiful. Really touching. I've spent a lot of time thinking about how Kon is the only (demi)Kryptonian with next to no knowledge of Krypton. And his relationship with Clark is so uncomfortable, most of the time....Kara really is the perfect person for him to learn about it from - not someone who's making a myth of Krypton, but someone who actually lived there. Someone that it's a real place for.

I agree, Kara's relationship with Krypton is so important and interesting...I would so love to see her and Kon have more time together! Of course, it's fun to fill in those blanks ourselves, too... :)
