Superman #165 (Feb 2001), by Jeph Loeb, dealt with Superman's reaction to Lex Luthor being elected President of the United States.  It's a Christmas issue, and in it he goes around talking to each member of the Justice League and asking for their advice and their opinions about what to do when you feel the democratic process has failed.  Clark ( Read more... )

Eeeee, Krypto! :D So cute.

Oh, I totally saw that mark as a little heart too. Eeee! :p

I'd never seen the scans where Bruce took over the Daily Planet before! And it's wonderful... 'I just thought it would be fun!'. *glomps him* And now he's going to save Clark with Lois... *wibbles* So much love.

I hadn't realized Bruce had taken over the Planet so recently! There are some Silver Age scans where he mentions owning stock, but that got lost in the Crisis...I'm so tickled it's back, lol.

I KNOW that mark is supposed to be a tiny shield, but come on, it SO looks like a heart, lol. It just...looks like Bruce added an emoticon in the middle of his speech. :)

#168 is one of my favourite issues - so much love for the thrilling three(some). And yes, that's definitely a heart!

They work so well together and are so cute! They're kind of teaming up together in the Superman/Batman title right now...unfortunately, the writing isn't this crisp and fun, but the basic idea is still a pleasure to read (we find out Bruce trained Lois in unarmed combat!)

I got tube socks from Superman...? :D :D :D

The neopagan symbol looks great. WOW - a kiss! :)

AWWWW - Lois sent a gift for Bruce!
it's an antique magnifying glass, if I read it right
I was thinking it's an antique magnifying glass reading the panel as well.

I like that Clark doesn't have to explain anything, Bruce knows exactly what he's thinking about.
That’s so true and wonderful!

Superman is not afraid of anything!
AWWWWWW! I don’t see Jonathan in DC comics too often. But he was absolutely amazing in this!

MUAHAHA, that last panel with Clark peeking at Krypto's line of sight! You can almost hear Bruce thinking "Uh oh."
*grins*

We agreed there would be no more secrets.
I think we agreed to no more surprises.
Exactly...
That was totally awesome! I loved them both so much there! (Oh - and yes, I noticed Clark’s hand reading it. :))

HANDSOME SEXY SECRET OWNER
:lol I have to agree with: "handsome" and "sexy" :D

Woodward and Bernstein - It always pleases me when I find something in common between DC comics and Smallville. ( ... )

And a pretty passionate one, too! I was quite surprised!

LOL, he looks kind of like a gnome, but I do like his standing up to Sam Lane like that. And I loved Lane responding with "Geez, you act like he's your son!"

It always pleases me when I find something in common between DC comics and Smallville. These words used Perry for Lois and Clark in one episode of Smallville talking to Lois. ("You and Clark are a regular Woodward and Bernstein.") :)

I really love when Clark and Lois are framed that way!

I'll have to put up Part 2 soon! The art is VERY different but the story is sooooo good...

YES! That was amazing! I had to smile reading this Lane's response. :D

You will post the second part too? Great! I'm looking forward to it!

I had the same question about Lois when I read the Hush story in which she already knows that Batman = Bruce. I asked the folks at the Superman Homepage for a cite to the issue in which Lois finds out, but they said that they couldn't find any such reference in any Superman comic book. So, my take is that the whole reveal happened off-panel - all the more grist for the fanfic writer to imagine what the scenario was (hint, hint). :)

Yeahhhh, I have to admit I'm really curious about it, and there clearly is no canon answer! Considering Jeph Loeb wrote both stories I wonder what he decided it was...but it does leave a lot of fun open for a fanfic writer, doesn't it? :)

Heh, this one I've got in the Superman: President Lex compilation.

I've always enjoyed the McGuinness Public Enemies style artwork for Superman and Superman/Batman; I kinda miss it.

I didn't like the McGuinness style at first, but it's really grown on me, it's so dynamic and expressive and not static. He and Loeb were a good match on Superman... *sighs*
