Name meme Stolen from Shardsofblu!

1. Most of us know how you got your LJ name. But are you still happy with it?

Welll.  I still like it, but there's a bad side-effect I was short-sighted enough not to foresee.  See, "Mithen" is the name of one of Krypton's moons, but I also used it as a Kryptonian endearment in a series--though I think it was arch_schatten 's idea?  So it has the secondary ( Read more... )

And it just struck me now that it sounds a bit like "meleth nin" too. It means "beloved" in Elvish, right?

Hey, wow, it does! I...wish I could claim I totally had that in mind, lol. It's a nice coincidence! I can't help but think the way the "m" and "l" sounds combine to form almost a kiss when you move your mouth to them has something to do with it. I am probably overthinking. :)

UUA sounds like a Very Official Organization of some sort, doesn't it! But I like the person below who said she'd have to call me "panda" then--it took me forever to see it, but it is there in the middle of the word!

Sadly, I do not know where Bruce was caught holding a bunny! I wish I did, lol...he is adorable there!

Glad to hear I'm not overthinking the Elvish! I've spent a LOT OF TIME with the language glossary in the back of the Silmarillion...I love made-up languages so much. :D

Hm... I'm rather fond of silverlotus. Hee hee... if your username on LJ was upupandaway instead of mithen, I'd call you panda, not upup. No, I'm not really joking about that. Look, it's right in the middle there! I like your username, though. And that icon! Bunny! (I just finished exams today, and am taking a break from my sleep-deprived efforts at packing things; coherency is not an option. But I felt the need to comment anyways. Sorry.)

PANDA! I totally couldn't see what you were talking about for the longest time, lol. "What is she..wait...PANDA!"

I think coherency is highly over-rated, myself. :P Especially with exams finishing up!

Heh, at basically the same time as I read "up, up, and away!" I saw "upu-*panda*-way"; I actually am not sure which one processed first. There are many things you can blame for this: the fact that I am tired, the fact that I spent the entire afternoon taking two physics exams basically back-to-back (exams are very brain-frying, especially when you have two for separate classes in a single department that are two hours each with only a half hour in between, urk), the fact that I am a physics major (physicists tend to see the world a little differently, sometimes, LOL), the fact that there is no punctuation (I may have taken longer to see "panda" in that username if it was written "up-up-and-away"... or not). Yay for incoherency! Also, I never know whether to read starsandsea as "stars and sea" or "star/sand/sea". Also also, my brain wants to read the work "skein" in the middle of "purpleinkpen" for some strange reason, on the occasions it's not trying to convince me that the username is some sort of a play on "Ruplestiltskin". ... You know, I'd always just assumed the name was "Stars and Sea," but now you have me wondering! I'll have to ask her, especially since she commented right below you. :)

I can see that being the result of a touch of dyslexia, but it's kind of a cool side effect, don't you think? It brings a fresh look to things that other people take for granted...

Whee! I kinda want to join in the fun with this meme, but.. I'm very happy with my username, lol. I'm so glad you like it too! :D

And your icon is awesome. *squees over Bruce*

I like your username, too. But... um... is it meant to be read as "stars and sea" or "star/sand/sea"? Both are very pretty, though.

You know, I feel so dumb now, I have never realized that it could be star/sand/sea. It's always been 'stars and sea' in my mind... That makes it extra cool! Thank you for pointing it out! :D Also, I'm jealous that your dysexia is cool like that, mine is just annoying. :p

Well, it is a lovely username either way, and I think it having two pretty ways of reading it makes it extra awesome. It's fun to see extra meanings/words in things... like panda in mithen's idea of upupandaway. Of course, I was also once trying to do one of those word scramble puzzles, you know, the ones where there is a jumble of letters and you are supposed to reorganize them into a word; the right answer was subtext, and all I could see was buttsex (in my defense, the two t's were already next to one another). And I'm not certain if I have dyslexia, because I have never been tested properly, but given the genetic link and how much my brother is dyslexic, along with some other signs that make sense now at almost-22, I would be not at all surprised if I was, and rather strongly suspect it. But if it lets me see cool things like that and only hampers me in daily life as much as to very much need to use spell check much of the time, well, I can live with that, LOL.

Which means I like the name even more, but...when I went to use it again in a story, I realized--I can't use it anymore!
WOW, it’s interesting. I would never said, you could see it as a problem. But you can be right.
I confess, to choose a name gives me always a pretty hard time. :)
Upupandaway - I would like it. :)
Silverlotus - that sounds nice. Well, I don’t see lotus flowers (live lotus flowers) too often here in my country. At least I haven't seen any for a pretty long time. But I remember when I was a child, it always amazed me seeing lotus flowers floating on the surface of water. It seemed to me like a magic. :)

I've been working with arch_schatten to come up with a new alternative endearment! I think we've made some good progress, too. :) I'm hoping to work it into a story soon...

Choosing names is always so hard! I come up with better options only later, it seems. Though of course all of those are already taken, so even if I'd thought of them it wouldn't have helped!
