And so a Council is forming. How wonderful!

"Why am I forever meeting royalty who don't happen to mention it to me?"

*grins* Those are the types of lines that delight me the most.

I thought about the all-dwarf Fellowship, but...it really does have to be a multi-race affair, I think! Even if Thorin will fume and grump... :)

Also, Bilbo meeting royalty and not giving a darn will never cease to make me happy. *grin* I'm thrilled you're enjoying!

Aw! Bilbo didn't want to come to Saruman's notice! Not that I blame him. He's too silver-tongued. I much prefer Gandalf and not simply because we know him better. Saruman's attitude grated on me in the books.

"Why am I forever meeting royalty who don't happen to mention it to me?"

One of my favorite lines, too. *grin* It's just too perfect a situation. Hee! Gandalf brought the elves anyway. He would. *snerk*

Saruman is like...designed to make hobbits uneasy! Bilbo has a very good sixth sense for these things...

And yes, Gandalf just goes ahead and brings the elves anyway. *grin* "I'm not getting you get away with being all haughty, master dwarf!"

"I will doubt you no longer," laughed Saruman. "Your realm is impressive, King Balin." His eyes went to Thorin. "And is this not the very King Thorin, son of Thráin?"

Thorin bowed stiffly. "I am the grandson of King Thrór, my Lord."

Oooooh! Oooh, Saruman in Moria! And Thorin's correction that he's Thror's grandson and not Thrain's son... *wibbles a bit*

"My name is Théoden of Rohan."

Eeeeee, Theoden! :D :D :D I so loved the description of him... Though I wonder what his journey must have been like, in the company of Saruman! Also, is he going to see Petunia? :D

"No," said Bilbo, slightly more sharply than he had intended. "No, I am not. I haven't left the Shire for decades, and even this time--well, I'm not brave, is all."

Oh, Bilbo... *hugs him gently*

The door burst open and Thorin came through it, an unaccustomed flustered look on his face.

Eeee, a flustered Thorin! *grins*

"You're a prince?" Bilbo couldn't help but make an exasperated noise as Théoden nodded. "Why am I forever meeting royalty who don't happen to mention ( ... )

Ahhhhh, ha ha, I'm so glad you caught that! Saruman definitely didn't endear himself to Thorin in that moment...

Though I wonder what his journey must have been like, in the company of Saruman! Also, is he going to see Petunia? :D

I wonder how long it takes to travel from one to the other? They're fairly close, but still, it must have been days! I strongly suspect Saruman treated him rather like a messenger who isn't important once the message is delivered to those who will deal with it, if that makes sense!

Petunia will indeed be meeting Theoden! I hadn't thought about it, but Theoden remembers him as a colt, of course!

Oh, and I love the change you've made to it, while it still really sounds like the one from LOTR itself...The rest of the poem is actually EXACTLY the same, lol! Only the first 2 lines need to be changed to make it fit, which kind of cracked me up... And giving Theoden the dream felt really right...it makes me wonder ( ... )

I was so happy to see Théoden! And then Arwen and Glorfindel! And now we have the Council of Moria I suppose, but with Saruman right there. That's going to be so interesting.

Théoden and Bilbo getting along was very nice. I also liked the way Bilbo knows Thorin prefers Gandalf too, although he would never admit it.

I'm really looking forward to how this is going to play out. :)

We're not QUITE there yet Council-wise! We have basically three more people to go (and two very late stragglers who show up at the end!) Yeah, I ended up needing a low of people to show up...I understand belatedly why Tolkien had Frodo show up nearly last and then be unconscious while everyone else came, lol.

I also liked the way Bilbo knows Thorin prefers Gandalf too, although he would never admit it.

Poor Thorin, he feels like he OUGHT to prefer Saruman, but he just can't manage it! And Bilbo just knowing that makes me really happy...it's been such a long time, but they still know each other so well...

I am having a BLAST writing this, even though I'm worried the "Oh, a new arrival!" is going to get tedious. *grin* Nine people is a lot to assemble, especially if they all bring friends!

*g* Haha, yeah, that makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

Good luck with assembling everyone! I'm looking forward to how all of this will play out. :)

I still have a feeling that Saruman's arrival can't mean anything good... And now it has turned a competition between Saruman and Gandalf - uh oh.

Saruman is...50 years younger, so less settled in, but not at all a good person! He and Gandalf are not going to get along, even if they often pretend they are...
