Oh! Oh, I loved that little line... and the one after, how Bilbo thought back on it as a happy time...
the walls blazed with opals and moonstones that caught the light and cast it outward in soft prisms, and Bilbo could hear singing in the distance before they had even cleared the first hall. Mithril filigree wound across the shining granite walls in looping curves and whorls, gleaming. He gazed around in wonder: Erebor had been magnificent, but it seemed nearly as homey as the Shire compared to the glory of Khazad-dûm.
Oh, all the descriptions of Khazad-dum were so beautiful, it was... kinda hard to imagine such magnificence! But so pretty, at the same time... (And so nice to see Dwarves there!)
"But I prefer Erebor," he couldn't help but add ( ... )

It's really hard to imagine Moria as a living city, I think! It's been so long...
Balin as King, ahhhh! And Dwalin with him too of course! :)
Isn't that a happy thought! And Dwalin with him, yes! I know canonically he doesn't go with him, and for some reason that really bothers me! They should stick together after all they've been through...
OMG, imagining them all riding goats-! *giggles*
LOL, the goats are out of the online game, and they crack me up. Instead of horses, everyone has to travel around on these crazy goats... The Rohirrim do not approve!
Saruman being there is just--! We'll find out how he knew to show up in the next chapter, and it's all wheels within wheels...I hope I can keep them all straight, lol!
Thank you for the wonderful comment, Star! *dances*

Oh my gos, Fíli has a son? YAY! :)
Gandalf had left them after his argument with Thorin, despite Bilbo's pleas for him to stay. "If my advice shall go so disregarded, I see no point in traveling with you!" he had snapped, and strode off to the north without looking back.
Oh.
"The orcs are gone," he murmured as if he understood Bilbo's reluctance, "And our friend is king. You will find Khazad-dûm much changed, I feel."
Good. :)
"It's beautiful," said Bilbo. "But I prefer Erebor," he couldn't help but add.
For a moment he was afraid that Thorin would take offense at the slight to the greatest of all dwarvish cities, but then Thorin leaned close and whispered, "As do I," in Bilbo's ear.
:D
From his research, Thorin was fairly certain the Ring would hold little sway over his kin, but… to be honest, he did not want to gaze upon ( ... )

He does! It was mentioned briefly during the letters from Thorin to Bilbo. :)
That scene with Bilbo and Thorin talking about the gardens was so touching. Poor Thorin... and Bilbo.
I know, it broke my heart! I feel so bad for both of them... *sighs* But I'm glad they're having some time together--I think Bilbo would rather be in danger with Thorin than safe anywhere else in the world. :)

Oh my! How could I miss it? *shaked head*
I hope Bilbo is going to meet Fíli and his son. (And Kíli). Looking forward to it. :D
