The black stallion chose this moment to stamp his hooves and nicker, billowing grass-scented steam around him.

"He hails from Rohan," said Thorin. "Sent as a gift. Few dwarves are tall enough to ride such a steed, so I felt justified in claiming him for my own, though it was selfish of me, for he is truly magnificent."

Oh man, I fell over with delight when Thorin came up with that one, and I am still not over it. And I was wondering about Shadowfax! I've never been entirely clear on him--he always feels like more than just a horse, in some ways. But if he lives a normal horse life, he probably wouldn't be born yet, right? (He might be Petunia's son, though!)

Ooooh! I can't wait to see them there - and more of Petunia the Majestic Stallion, I hope! :D

I just realized that there's someone in Moria who would be very interested in meeting Petunia! I will have to make sure to write that! :)

Petunia! I would say more, but everytime I think of that name for the magnificent stallion of Rohan, I just start to giggle helplessly.
