Oh this is beautiful, I need more dwarf culture in my life. And Khuzdul in exchange for plant names! So sweet :D Cross cultural sharing as romantic bonding time is the best. I'd never before these two thought to ship a dwarf and a hobbit before, but I'm completely enchanted with the Aule/Yavanna parallel.

Isn't the Aule/Yavanna parallel wonderful? It all makes sense. :) And oh my, give me a chapter full of making up rituals and names for things and I'm in heaven. *grin* I'm so glad you enjoyed!

Great chapter - I love how Bilbo and Thorin spent the journey, sharing their knowledge with each other.

For we live in darkness, but the darkness does not claim us.

Oooh, what a lovely line - it perfectly sums up the dwarves.

I'm so glad you liked the Ceremony words! I had a really fun time thinking about the moon and the dwarves' relationship to it, and how they might view it and their place in the world... Also imagining Thorin and Bilbo swapping language lessons made me very very happy to write. Thank you!

the voices of his people were with him in the dark, and the star at Bilbo's throat was brighter than any star in the sky.

Such wonderful conversations in this chapter, and what a lovely ceremony you've crafted here. This journey just gets better and betrer.

I SO enjoyed writing up the Ceremony (there well may be a bunch more of it that didn't make it in... *coughs nervously*) Dwarf culture is so interesting and so much is left unexplained, so it was a lot of fun! Also, putting Thorin and Bilbo together and letting them talk is perhaps my favorite thing to overhear and write down in the world. :) Thank you!

Oh, I love how all the culture clash has by now given way to acceptance and exchange.

Wonderful chapter. :)

I've really come to fall in love with a Thorin who's able to love the Shire and learn more about it! Shared language lessons is perhaps a kink for me, lol...

Thanks for the sweet comment! *runs off to write more*

I loved this glimpse into their culture! And the touching scene about the broach was wonderful.

Aw, thank you! Like Kryptonian culture, Dwarf culture has so much left unwritten that it's endlessly fun to fill it in. :)
