I had never noticed before, but the names they give perfumes are amazingly synesthetic.

The song was not musically what I was expecting at all. Then again, the only music I know of from Japan that involves cute ladies like that is J-pop. Still awesome though. I can picture the '36 Views of Mt Fuji' Bruce listening to that quietly on an ipod or something while Clark is busy and laughing to himself.

It's true, perfume names tend to focus a lot on capturing a sight/spupnd/texture (especially that last one!)

Hee, yeah, Ai Otsuka is fun and more rock-oriented than most, I like her! And now I'm enamoured of Bruce having an entire playlist of songs about Superman. :)

Anyone out there know Charles Todd's Ian Rutledge series?

:raises hand, waves enthusiastically: I've only read the first two but have the next four titles lined up to get to ASAP. I was very skeptical about the Hamish angle starting out, afraid it would wear thin fairly quickly, but it really has turned into a unique way to explore Ian's psyche. His fear of his colleagues finding out about the voice in his head, and the ramifications of that is powerful too.

(Yes, I want angsty doomed wartime-comrades slashiness for Yuletide, I admit it!)You are not alone! Wouldn't it be great to see a fic explore the contrasts between how Ian and Hamish may have really got on together, versus the battle that rages in Ian's head now ( ... )

Well I am now about halfway through Search the Dark, so I am catching up quickly! It is fascinating to see Ian...not comfortable with ghost!Hamish, but almost accepting that this is what his conscience sounds like now. The price he pays for being one of those who lived while Hamish and all those others died.

I've been craving fic that shows that last night from Hamish's point of view so much--obviously he's sad and weary, but I never got the impression he hated Ian for the situation he was in as much as Ian thinks he should have.We need to nominate it for inclusion when Yuletide rolls around! There have to be other fans out there who could fill a wish like that. Sadly I wouldn't know where to start, not right now anyway ( ... )

I will be all over the Ian Rutledge nomination when Yuletide comes around again! Surely there will be other people out there who are interested...I'll have to get more of it read soon, though!

Joe Sandilands...*makes notes* I've gotten so into noir and detective stories lately...I didn't like them when I was younger because I never can guess whodunnit, but I've come to accept that guessing the suspect isn't exactly the point of the genre, really...

Jen, Jen, I've actually found two perfumes I can wear without feeling ill! Okay, granted, one of them is a childrens one, but still... :p

LOL, I'm um... not sure what to make of the song! I do love the policeman in the middle though...

Hey, nothing wrong with a perfume calibrated for kids! It definitely makes it less likely it's going to be something incredibly heavy and choking, thank goodness. What are they called? Remember how I told you I finally got this perfume that's supposed to smell like a library and it smelled like burning rubber? I bought a little of one that's supposed to smell like an incense-filled church and it smells like...a crypt. o_O Like damp stone and very, very old incense. It's...kind of cool for atmosphere (I guess I could wear it when writing fic about parts of Gotham?) but I can't imagine wanting to wear it out in public much...

The policeman is definitely my favorite part! I'm very curious as to why he yells that he needs Superman. :)

LOL, the kids one is a Disney Princess one! :p The other one is called Laughter and according to its blurb: 'fresh citrus notes of bergamot, grapefriut and lime are boosted by aromatic rosemary and a spicy bite of ginger'. Not a scent I would have imagined myself wearing, but it works somehow.

Wow, I can't really imagine a perfume smelling like a crypt! Good for writing and reading spooky stories, I suppose, but not really for wearing in public... Oh, and about a year or so ago there was a BBC documentary called 'Perfume' (I think) that went behind the scenes of the perfume industry and showed how they make the scents. I only saw the first part where they were concentrating on the merchandising aspect, but you might be interested in it (if you're interested in perfume that much, that is!). :)

Mmmm, the Laughter one sounds really nice! And that documentary sounds cool, I'll have to go looking for it! :)

My favorite part is the exasperated trooper groaning "oh my God" at the end of the song. :D

The poor trooper! Somehow the image of Superman sailing along like a Macy's parade balloon, blocking traffic while some guy yells at him through a microphone, just made me giggle so much...

I don't wear perfume outside the house very often because so many people are allergic, so it's really something just for me to enjoy and savor (my husband has a shockingly weak nose, so I can indulge myself in a scent I love without bothering him!).
I admit, I’m quite the opposite. I rarely wear perfume inside the house. And my nose is quite sensitive, so sometimes I have a problem even with my husband’s perfume. (He likes some scents that I don’t. :)) But I like when I have a shower gel, body cream, deodorant spray and perfume, everything from the same line. And if I have my favorite perfume, I don’t feel the need to change it (instead of my husband - he loves change :D) .

Hey Superman, this is your last chance, if you don't fly more quickly I will arrest you!
OMG! :DDD
I liked the line: “I will love you.” And the ending made me smile. :)

I'm more like your husband, I'm always shuffling things in and out and trying new things. Which is funny because usually I dislike change very much, but when it comes to scent I seem to enjoy a variety!

I'm glad the song could make you smile! I have a real weakness for silly superhero songs, I think.
