I've been on the road this week, which means I haven't had much time to read comic books!  I'm hoping to find the time on airplanes tomorrow, because this week was Batman and Justice League, both of ( Read more... )

I'm still a bit confused about everything that's going on in Stormwatch and I think Gotham as "demon" was a bit of a let down. I don't think that captures her complexity at all.

Demon Knights I just love more and more with every issue. It's still one of my favourites out of the whole relaunch. The exchanges between Ystin and Ex were so great!

I agree, though yeah, as phyrry says below maybe it's more of a gargoyle feel? Still, there are pretty gargoyles too. *pouts*

I adore Demon Knights so much, and not for any of the reasons I thought I would, lol. I assumed I'd be all into Jason and Al Jabr, and now I'm crazy in love with Ystin and Ex. :) I'm always so happy to find more awesome female characters to fangirl!

Yeah, it probably is supposed to be a gargoyle and was chosen to transport the "gothic" feel. Still I think (as gargoyles come in many shapes or forms) there could have a better way to represent Gotham City. But it's really just a minor complaint. :P

It was the same for me with Demon Knights. I picked it up, because if Cornell writing and he only character I new much about was Jason Blood. But now this is probably the title with the most awesome femal cast around.

I would have bought a lot of different kinds of looks for Gotham, but daemonic isn't one of them.

Perhaps Gotham likes to mess with people.

Ha! I like that one! I do think it makes perfect sense that cities would look different depending on who was talking with them and how they were "feeling" at that moment...

nice scans

I don't know anything about Demon Knight but I like the way the ladies are drawn. I really like the different body types. one of them big both in muscles and curves and another androgynous and slender

I agree, the artist is doing great on Demon Knights as well. The women are fascinating--I came for Jason and stayed for Ystin and Ex and maybe Horsewoman (but I kind of agree with Ex about Xanadu, I confess!)

Jack Hawksmoor's pants are so highwater. Oi. And Gotham looks like a gargoyle to me, not a demon, fwiw.

You make me want to reread the Warren Ellis run of the Authority. I love Warren Ellis. (He is one of the only comics authors I still trust enough to be willing to read, along with Gail Simone and Kurt Busiek.)

I like that take better, I think! Still...Gotham should be beautiful and dangerous, not just scary! *sulks*

Yeah, I have a short-list of trusted writers myself. Luckily for me Cornell is on mine. *grin* Along with Gaiman (sadly, since he doesn't write much) and usually Morrison. Busiek is on there too!
