Hugs Kal. I'm pleased he and Bruce got together (now Bruce just needs to realise it's a good thing). Looking forward to next chapter.

Bruce can be so stubborn! He absolutely refused to continue until he had made clear that he expected Clark to move on soon, the ridiculous man.

I'm having a lot of fun writing the next chapter and getting Kal out in the superhero business for reals! :)

So "Dick, he's...he's wearing a bathrobe," Best line ever, shall file under "head canon."

How can Bruce be expected to maintain his sanity when confronted with the sight of Kal in a bathrobe? IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. :)

Oh my, didn't see that ending coming, but yay! for the boys.

Hmm, interesting end to the chapter, a cliffhanger! Oh well shall have to wait for the next installment, :D

I really love the animated series Brainiac and his connection to Superman...I was just reading an essay recently about how it's not a good idea to tie villains so intimately to heroes (things like Joker killing the Waynes or recently everyone being an old friend of Bruce's) but I don't know, there's something satisfying about it in this case...

What would a series be without at least one cliffhanger, I ask you? *grin* There will be more soon, I'm certain of it!

Reading through the comments and seeing this, it just hit me again that this is animated continuity, meaning we'll have that particular Braniac, and I squee'd all over again.

I'm not sure I agree with the intimate tie thing...yes, all those old friends of Bruce get annoying after awhile. But it's nice to have some degree of "This time, it's PERSONAL", especially with recurring villains.

He's great, isn't he? I do like that they resisted making him actually responsible for the destruction of Krypton (like the Wayne murders being random, it seems important to me that Krypton stay a national disaster, not something that can be avenged) and yet still give him a personal link and a reason for Kal to hate him.

Yeah, the argument I read against personal villains is that it lessens the abstract heroism of the character--that is, Kal fights Brainiac because Brainiac is evil, not because he has a personal grudge. If it's done too much or too heavy-handedly I think it can risk making the hero all about settling scores. But with Superman and Batman, who are--let's be honest--two of the most abstractly-motivated heroes around, I do think it grounds them a bit at time to have more of a connection.

I'm so glad you're enjoying it, it's definitely my go-to story for writing when I want to feel happy, so I'm glad it works a little on the reading end as well. :) Thanks for letting me know!
