So I've been trying to post scans from my two favorite comics each week so far.  Sadly, last week only two comics didn't make me unhappy!  (It was not a good week!)  One was Birds of Prey, which ( Read more... )

Nice family pic there, though I'm not thrilled about the storyline about Dick as murderer. Still, if it brings their relationship to even stronger levels, it'll be worth it, because Dick does hold Bruce steady in this world, and something that DC hasn't emphasized nearly enough for my taste, so maybe this storyline will.

At least Superman/Batman didn't end as coldly as World's Finest did 25 years ago!

Heh, Clark dodging the giant mallet, and Batman rescuing his secret identity. Aww! :)

Oh man, you need to find some of the interviews with Snyder, because I think he sees Dick exactly as you do. I've seen him talk about how without Dick in his life, Bruce would be as unhinged as the Joker, so I don't think he has any plans to drive them apart permanently--maybe only long enough to show Bruce falling apart without him.

And I was glad S/B didn't end so unpleasantly this time! I strongly suspect the author had no idea this would be the last issue...

Oh, my goodness, I'll have to google and see what I can find! He and I are soulmates on this one. :)

Dick really anchors Bruce to this world. Alfred is his rock, but his British reserve and perhaps the master/servant thing does prevent him from being the pull to reality that Dick can be. Dick allows Bruce to laugh and to remember there's something other than the Mission out there, though of course they are connected by shared tragedy, too.

*grins*

I'd better sign off here. I can write REAMS of Bruce and Dick interaction! ;)

I too think that the art in Batman is very pretty, almost too pretty! And everyone looks so darn young, Bruce looks barely 25 maybe, Dick looks 16, Tim looks 13 and Damien looks 8. As a long time and more mature reader I don't connect so well to this. The Batman pre-boot was someone I considered a contemporary who I could relate to. Now he's just another youngin' (luckily I also consoder myself a BBWCougar so maybe I can work something out LOL).
That last Batman/Superman story was stilted to me and yes the men looked too musclebound. I mean Superman in uniform had no neck!!!!!!! He looked liked a juicer's wet-dream for gosh's sakes.
Thank you for sharing these scans. While I'm not out buying the re-boot for reasons of principle, I am courious as all get out a to how they are treating my "friends"!

Based on what I've seen, Bruce and Clark are between 25-30, Dick is supposedly 18, Tim 16, and Damian 12. They do all look younger here! But Bruce looks plenty mature in Batman and Robin and The Dark Knight, so it seems to be more an individual artist's take on him. Looks like there'll still be a delicious range of Bruces to choose from. :)

That one shot of no-neck Superman kind of cracked me up. He didn't look anything like that as Clark!

Thanks so much for posting the S/B scans. My LCS ran out of issues, and I cried sad tears of woe for having missed it. SO THANK YOU! :D ( ... )

I forgot to mention how happy I was with Bullock here! He makes a really great Cynical Voice of Doom and Capullo's art is hilarious on him.

I really liked March! Something about the way Capullo draws him reminds me of a character from a 30s screwball comedy, somehow. I'd rather he not be a bad guy too, but...well, we do need someone to be the real killer, and there aren't a lot of candidates right now, are there? Darn.

Haha, I am taking this S/B interaction task you've set for us very seriously. :D

I approve of this! :D I'll have to score myself a copy and check it out, see how the boys' attitudes are. :) From the review I read, it sounds like their job is mostly to say "Whoa, mystic crap is so not my area. How's about you assemble some kind of...magic team or something?" :D

I got quite unlucky with the comics I chose to follow last week, was a big part of the problem! I didn't have Supergirl or Wonder Woman on my pull list, and from all accounts they would have made me feel a lot better about the whole thing. But Batman did help a lot!

Darn it. I'm going to start buying Batman now, aren't I? Le sigh. So long, money...

Ah, well! Totally worth it for Snyder, my boys and the pretty art. :D

You are indeed probably going to have to pick up Batman. *grin* No guarantees on it staying good, but it was one of my favorites of the whole relaunch (the other "bests" for me were probably Demon Knights, Birds of Prey, Action, and Batwoman).
