I DONT KNOW WHERE TO START. EVERYTHING IS PERFECT.
Clark grabbed the first clean polo shirt in the drawer and pulled it on, because he was not going to fret over wearing exactly the right clothes to Gotham as if he were a teenage boy. He was an adult man, and well past being vain about his appearance, and--the dark blue of the shirt actually showed off his eyes pretty well, he thought as caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. Slipping his glasses down his nose, he flashed a smile at the mirror. "Long time no see, Bruce," he murmured, then immediately felt ridiculous and shoved the glasses back up. Grow up, Kent.
And then I laughed and laughed and squee'd at Clark's epic cuteness. Best paragraph ever! Aww, and Clark was so excited! I'm gonna kill Mannheim for interferring with Gazebo-time.
BRUUUUCE!!! OMG LITTLE NINJA BABY! YOU SHOULD HAVE PUT THE CAPE ON!!!
at last, at last, I'm going to strike a blow for Gotham, for my parents, for everything good and true in this city. For everything I love. For ( ... )

I know, he obviously needed it! *pokes Bruce* Put on the caaaaape. I mean, you have that mysterious flying guy in Metropolis, you're not alone! :)
WHAT?!?! YOU'RE STOPPING THERE?!?! BUT BUT BUT!!!
It is something of a cliffhanger there, isn't it? *bounces* But I wanted to make sure the Batman's debut got a good amount of space for it! :)

Yes! ;)
Clark dithering over his clothes was a hoot. :)
Failure, Bruce? Out of failure will come your success.
I love how Bruce is driven to perform his first heroic act for Clark! :)

Oh, the anguish of looking just right! :)

Mmm, that ended up being one of my favorite parts of this series, how they each end up becoming the heroic persona to try and protect each other. (Even though they don't really need protecting a lot, lol!)
*hugs* Thanks for the comment!

Loved your use of that canon scene of Bruce and the bell! :)

Omg, this was so brilliant! I take back my last comment (or whining? ahem) about Clark and Bruce finally talking. This was SO MUCH BETTER!!!
I absolutely love this! Such a genius move to make Bruce fail the first time (I mean, please, a ninja? You can do so much better Bruce *shakes her head*)
I am indeed rather worried about the bullet wound and especially about Alfred's reaction. (Some effect from making a few calls there, he will be so disappointed... and that I find rather scary in Alfred...)
Oh but the last sentence... *sighs happily*
But still it's a bit mean. Clark got a rather smooth start (ok, what COULD happen to him?) and Bruce fails so hard. But hey, he probably needed it.
And now: Let them talk! And let Clark cuddle the poor injured Bruce (I am so looking forward to Bruce explaining that haha)
You are just made of awesome. I don't think I mentioned that....

Not whining at all--I totally feel your pain! God knows I have spent a fair amount of time while writing this arc whining being frustrated that the reunion kept being put off...

Fortunately, it's only ("only") a knife wound--there are a bunch of bullets flying there, but the guy he was questioning had a knife he got him with. A little easier to function while stabbed than shot!

Ahhhh, I know! Bruce's rocky start is canon in Batman: Year ONe, and Clark almost never has a hard time at first because no one is prepared for him, so there's no Kryptonite or enhanced weaponry around. Suffice to say, though, that Clark is soon going to discover that he might need some help now and then...

I loved Bruce pacing the floor, waiting for him. Calling Lois and the surveillance system- oh, yeah, Bruce is ready! Love that he brought up Martha, and his concern for her- good boy, Bruce!
I felt his thrill at finally beginning his mission, not to mention saving Clark. He was so hard on himself for being thwarted, he forgot how adaptable he is! Bruce learns from everything, mistakes and all! Love his analysis and his bat vision.
Oh, gosh, there will be sooo much to talk about when these two finally get together, no to mention h/c! Can't wait!!

*grin* The goons thought it was because he was nervous, of course, but nooooo, he had a date, damn it!

This chapter and the next chapter were such a thrill to write, because of that! Even more than Clark, who in this continuity just kind of has his destiny presented to him, Bruce has finally achieved his...
And yes, talk and h/c and um, cuddles, whoo!
