Gah! I almost want to hate you for writing such a wonderful yet sad sequel of sorts to an ep B:tAS that always makes me a bit misty eyed.

Isn't it just the most wonderful episode? I rewatched it to refresh my memory for this story and it made me cry. I really meant it to be more light-hearted, a sort of "Oh look, if robot-Batman loves Clark, then hey, maybe...!" But the minute I was in the robot's POV I knew that was going to be impossible, he was just too sympathetic. *sighs*

It really is. It happened to be on Boomerang a couple of weeks ago and I had to stop what I was doing and watch it.

OMG, this is wonderful. Sad, and wrenching, and heart clutching, holy moly. Blinks fast, I wanted to cry with Clark. Bruce needed to say the words. He should have said the words, stubborn bastard, sighs, but that is Bruce. Thanks for sharing this great piece of fanfic. -SB

*sniffles with you* A romantic clinch didn't seem quite in-place with the poor smoking robot right there, woe. I wanted it so badly but there was just no way it didn't look odd. Please assume that Bruce shows up at Clark's place with a lot of flowers a few days later. :)

I was doomed the moment I realized some of this was going to be from the robot's point of view--it broke my heart to have him refuse to realize he wasn't actually Bruce. *pets him gingerly* But I had a lot of sniffly fun writing it and I'm glad you enjoyed!

Grins, yeah, I want to see the flowers scene later :D I couldn't see them having a clinch at that point either but he should have spit it out. I know why he didn't though because of the poor robot.

Sighs sadly, pats robot Bruce. Is a difference that makes no difference a difference? He managed to do what Bruce would have done, mournful sniffle back. He deserved to be saved. Maybe he's backed -up somewhere. The boys should really check that out don't you think? ;) -SB

If he really was dying, if this was the end, he wanted--

"Clark?" he whispered. "I need you."

Awwwwwwwww!!!

As he connected the last wires, there was a faint chuckle from Batman. "Tickles..." Bruce whispered.

I couldn’t help but giggle at this one. It was kinda cute and definitely lightened the depressing mood.

"Well." Bruce looked away. "I'm not dying now."

Gaaaah! I wanna strangle him... you know... just a little bit :P

"But I feel," said Batman. He was looking at Superman. "I feel."

Awwwwwwwww!

"Don't--" Clark's voice suddenly failed him. "Don't wait too long. Please."

Bruce reached out and touched Clark's face; black-clad fingers smoothed away tears.

"I won't," said Bruce.*sniffles* Yeah, Bruce... please, don’t ( ... )

*grin* I'm glad! I needed something there to show that "Bruce" had some of the warmth and humor Bruce has as well. *pets him*

Just a little! I can easily see both Clark and Bruce just kind of...never quite getting around to it. They're both stubborn and independent and likely to take each other for granted much of their lives, I think...

Seriously, I got all “weeeeeeee”-y when I saw that author’s weird name in the story descriptions - I never realized someone had claimed my prompt! /bounces

I grabbed it late! I actually started this story (I'd wanted to write it for a while) and then thought, "Wait, this fits that cool Vonnegut quote!" So...bittersweet-sad fic for Christmas? :D I'm very glad you liked it--I was a little nervous about it because it's not exactly cheery holiday fare, but I do think there's a lot of hope at the end...

I think for Clark Bruce promising he'll tell him kind of "counts" as telling him. :D At least, I have to assume so! It was sad (poor robot! I loved the robot so much...) but at least a touch bittersweet at the end, I hope...

*hugs* Thanks so much for reading and commenting!

*patpats* I cried re-watching the episode this is based on...it's so sad even without Clark there at all! And then getting into the POV of the robot... *blinks and sniffles*

I'm sorry!
