A Strange Encounter Over the Weekend

So, this kind of strange thing happened over the weekend, and I realized I'd been chewing on it the last few days, and that it had actually made me feel pretty good about myself. It's kind of a long convoluted story, but you don't exactly come here for the Memes and the Giant Ape fights, do you?

Someone goes silent, it's obviously something I've said to them that has caused offence.
Incredibly ego-maniacal, I suppose. See that's the interesting thing. I've had discussions with friends after situations like that, where a third-party clams up, that were explained by 'He just didn't know what to say' or 'She just wanted to listen a while.' It has absolutely nothing to do with me

I would love to meet you FTF, you soul=nd amazingly interesting and while it's quite possible that I would bore you to death, I doubt that I'd be anything but full of questions and interest in the next thing you'd have to say.

I'd love to meet you too! I doubt you'd bore me, you've had an interesting life and your observations are insightful and precise. I think that's awesome. I've never been one of those people to reject someone because they were not my age or not into the things I'm into. I think you've got a lot of character!

That is so bizarre. It's funny because I talk myself out of worrying about other people's behaviors with things like, "maybe they just got fired from their job," or "maybe they had a fight with a loved one," or "maybe her mother didn't hug her enough as a child," or "maybe he's on a lot of medication and just hates everyone right now."
