. . . I haven't been on LJ much lately. I haven't been doing anything fannish lately, except working on a Trigun fic. You made a post about NaNo? ::confused:: You weren't one of the folks I had in mind, actually, but I shake my fist under your nose just the same! What is this world coming to when writers are discouraging other writers for no good reason!?

I'm annoyed because I've already been hearing about it for a month. And after three years, enough is enough. It would take two seconds for them to set up a god-damned filter, and the only reason they won't is because they're not doing it to write, they're doing it to show off how much they write. And it's stupid, because I could feed Dunsinane into the word counter and declare myself 85% done. There's apparently someone out there who claims to have done the 50,000 words in one day. It's pointless, and it's not just a few posts over a week, it's the whole f-ing month. I'm allowed to be sick of it by now.

Well, do you resent that people are using their journals to show off? Or do you resent that they're trying to show off their writing speed? I mean, Christmas happens every year, and everyone posts about that during December and a month prior (and a month after) but I doubt that annoys you. =) Or maybe it does. =)

You write. A lot of your friends write. Everyone likes egoboos. LJ was BUILT for egoboos. You use it for egoboos yourself. What is it about this attempt at egoboos that bugs you so much? I really, honestly don't get it. You know you can write 50,000 words of good, solid content, so the fact that you know some people are writing 50,000 words and it may or may not be good shouldn't . . . I dunno. Threaten you or make you feel any different about yourself or your writing. I don't get why it annoys any more than any other ficathon or anything else, for that matter.

*baffled* I don't know. I just use the scroll button just like I do to get past Stargate, Torchwood, Doctor Who spoilers, fics I dislike, etc. It takes less than a second, usually. Sometimes, I get bored and scroll the bar up and down really fast to make the screen blurry, and then I realize I should go to bed.
