And they want to stick their noses into the business of like everything my body does! Seriously, I'm just trying to lift my legs, why does my back need to be involved? GOD

upper back is more complex, the shoulders being involved.

But the lower back? I have 2 things for you:
Static Back
Childs Pose

Static back is awesome because it gets your lumbar erectors to come out of spasm so they can heal. Just lay flay on your back with your legs up on the seat of a chair or a pile of pillows (yoga bolsters work best). The whole idea is that you take all the stress off the back with the floor. Putting the legs up and at a right angle lets the femurs settle down into the sockets of the pelvis.

Lay there for a crazy long time - 15 minutes. About 5 minutes in you will literally feel everything just go limp against the floor. Stay there. Don't read or watch tv, but you can listen to music.

Childs pose - a good yoga pose for the lower back, once you are out of acute spasm!

or just google it. But do the static back first.

Take it from this armchair commando, it works.
