“Wooyoung-hyung! Why’d you kiss me?!”
There was little Wooyoung could do at first but gape dumbly at a fear-crazed Junho who was still trying, unsuccessfully, to free himself from Wooyoung’s grasp. A frenzy of thought filled his mind. Had he heard Junho right? Had he really just KISSED him? And most importantly, how in the hell was he going to explain himself?
“Hyung?” Junho started, sounding cautious and unsure. “Hyung, what’s going on?”
Wooyoung snapped back to reality, then. Finally looking the other boy in the eyes, all he could muster up the courage to say was a restrained, “I’m sorry,” before finally relinquishing the hold he had on his anxious friend. The intense look in Junho’s eyes quieted slightly, but Woooyoung knew the other deserved a considerably better response. He slid off of Khun’s bed to join Junho on the floor where he’d collapsed to his knees after achieving freedom.
“Whoa… I’ve gotta say, hyung, this is really one experience I never dreamt we’d share,” Junho teased, trying to lighten the mood. Wooyoung chuckled slightly at his dongseng’s lighthearted comment, and mentally thanked Jaysus that the other didn’t hate him. “Seriously, though. What the heck was that all about?” Junho prodded.
“I was having a dream. A very, very good dream, and I guess I unconsciously acted it out,” he explained. “I’m really sorry. That wasn’t meant for you, I swear!”
“Geez, hyung. Sorry I’m not good enough for you,” Junho laughed and swatted at him gently. He joined Junho in laughter then; both pairs of eyes disappearing under smiling eyelids. After the laughter died down, Junho opened his mouth to speak again and said, “It’s okay, Woo. I totally understand why you’d like Khun-hyung better.”
With that one effortless statement, Wooyoung’s gaping expression was back with a vengeance. “W-w-what do you mean?” he stammered idiotically.
“You were calling Khun-hyung’s name right before you kissed me,” Junho answered innocently, “I’m not stupid, hyung. I know how to put two and two together.”
“Just because Khun was in my dream doesn’t make him the one I was kissing!” he feebly insisted. Wooyoung could almost feel the safety of his walls of secrecy crumbling around him. He couldn’t allow anyone to discover his greatest secret without a fight.
“Hyung, it’s really okay if you’ve got a crush on Khun-hyung. I swear I’m okay with it! It’s not like I wouldn’t have figured it out eventually, considering you’re with him any chance you get,” Junho assured him.
“I don’t know what you’re getting at, Junho. I’m not in love with Khun! We’re just really close friends like you and me,” he opposed.
“Love? Who said anything about love?” Junho asked pointedly. “Are you really in love with him, hyung?” Junho prompted eagerly.
‘Oh crap,’ Wooyoung thought bitterly and mentally slapped himself for his carelessness. ‘I guess the proverbial Okcat’s out of the bag now.’ He decided it’d be better to just come clean before making things any worse. He really didn’t enjoy lying to his friend and supposed it couldn’t hurt to have an ally when dealing with this muddled affair called love.
“C’mon, hyung. Just tell me the truth~ I swear I won’t tell anyone,” Junho reassured him.
Wooyoung took in a deep breath, trying to draw in as much courage as possible before he spoke. “Ok, Junho. This is the truth…” he began while tears welled in the corners of his eyes. “The first person I look for every morning, the first person I run to when I’m in pain, the first person I beg forgiveness from when I’m wrong, and the first and only person I’m hopelessly and incurably in love with… is Nichkhun,” he declared dejectedly. Tears that had been welling in his eyes spilled over as he finished. He felt liberated and couldn’t hold back as all of the pent up emotions he’d been forced to hide for so long erupted forth.
Junho moved quickly and embraced him and whispered encouraging words of, “It’ll be alright, hyung. I’m here for you.” He felt his friend’s hand rub heartening circles on his back in attempt to calm him.
He wanted to respond to tell Junho that he was grateful to have him on his side, and that these tears were tears of joy. Joy of finding a support that he never knew he wanted. He had the mind to do so, but he couldn’t assemble the strength for anything other than sobbing into his friend’s welcoming shoulder. Eventually his tears stopped flowing, but Junho’s hold on him didn’t let up. Honestly, Wooyoung was glad to have a shoulder to lean on. Literally. He stayed like that for a while more, until he found the willingness to sit himself up. He looked into Junho’s smiling face, and couldn’t help smiling back at him. He wondered to himself if it was possible for anyone to deny the sincerity behind that eye-smile.
Finally rediscovering his voice, Wooyoung gave his brightest smile and bade Junho a simple, “Thank you.” The look on Junho’s face expressed that he understood it all; even the words left unspoken. Wooyoung rose to his feet, taking Junho’s hand and pulling him along. Junho gave him a quick smile before turning to head out the door. Before the other boy reached the doorknob, he grabbed Junho’s wrist, pulling him in for one last hug in gratitude. Just as he was about to pull away, the bedroom door swung open, and there stood a confused looking Nichkhun.
Wooyoung could feel his heart fall to the floor at the sight of his beloved hyung’s expression. He eyed Junho who had turned his head around upon hearing the opening door, and noticed the unsure look that had made it’s way onto his face. Like himself, Junho was staring directly and the shocked Nichkhun, frozen and uncertain of what to do. It was probably wishful thinking on his part, but he was nearly positive that Khun looked almost hurt.
Not knowing what else to do, he swiftly separated himself from Junho before greeting Khun with a hasty, “Welcome home, hyung.”
