Peggy reports back - The skywalk

Dec 08, 2005 22:42

On Monday, Jay and Elizabeth - Dean's World readers - pledged $125 for Brian and I to make the trip back out to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. We had gone the day after Thanksgiving and reported back about our experiences there. At the time we did not pay the exorbitant prices to take the bus to the area where the skywalk would be built (or to be able ( Read more... )

I guess I'm a little confused...

Is this thing being funded by the US Govt? Or by the tribes?

I dunno...it still smells of scam. Glad you guys got the money to take this trip. Looking forward to the update

Well, at the very least, it is very very much behind schedule.

This is a Hualapai Nation tribe doing.

If the project was real, but hit a funding or technical issue, the contractor might very well move most of their equipment to a job which isn't being held up, so that the equipment might earn some money. (On the other hand, if the contractor doesn't have other work, they might let all their equipment sit around on a halted job because, hey, free parking!)

On the other hand, what you're showing doesn't look like enough of a hole for the Skywalk anchors, but may be enough for the surrounding buildings.

Well, the buildings are suposed to be on top of the skywalk.

I just looked over these pictures again, and you can see at least one more hole in them. I'm so glad that this camera has such a nice zoom, and that I used it... I saw several things in the pictures that you could not see with your eyes while there.

This is a HUGE construction company out of Vegas.. Just did the city park and all.

Brian just got the number for the project manager, and left him a message. "Hello, this is Brian Hall, and i'm going to be doing a series of reports on the skywalk, and I was hoping to speek with you about it..."

Ok, I read that Dean's World blog thing and I finally "get" it. Eagerly awaiting another update!

Still goggling over those prices and packages. And I can't believe they're charging it NOW when the thing isn't even BUILT. (If I understand that correctly - pretty damn unbelievable.)

Well, they've been charging those prices just to see the canyon for a while now. You can add the skywalk for 25 more dollars. LOL
