ideally yes, but most attackers aren't the sort who would just be like "wait, you mean i shouldn't be doing this? shit, sorry." it's not about telling people not to attack others; these people are either so far gone that they don't know it's wrong, or they just don't fucking care. there’s a difference between saying “men can’t help themselves and you deserve it” and saying “you should try to be careful, because there are some fucked-up people out there." it pisses me off that we're at the point where someone offering advice for how to avoid people who want to hurt you is attacked for "victim-blaming," and i've seen that so many fucking times that, well, it does indeed seem that that's where we are as a whole.
