Doesn't Gasparilla get rather old hat after a while? Rich old white guys pretending to be pirates once a year, throwing cheap beads and plastic coins at slack-jawed onlookers who then turn around and pay $14 for a coke and a churro? Lame.

Don't get me wrong, Vinny + golf cart = awesome. But Gasparilla... well, it sucks. I just got through explaining to my wife why it really isn't worth the schlep down to the city just to experience the charade of it all. (I have yet to expose her to Ybor. I might not make it out of there with her.)

Yeah. It's all about not going to Gasparilla while making snide commentary about the berks who do go, and wind up getting vomited on, or whatever.

The same is pretty much true for Ybor. Back when I worked there, I was off like a shot - I refused to stick around once it got dark.
