This is a link talking about a rather neat celestial event occuring early Sunday morning in the predawn hours. Read the link for details, but the short story is that Mars, Jupiter and Mercury will be within 1 degree of each other. Three planets haven't been this close since 1925, and it won't happen again until 2053 ( Read more... )

Bugger, I'd forgotten it was this week!

And I have work tommorrow, I could go to sleep for a few hours and then get it. But then I'll be dead on my feet all day (and then I'm cranky and I get no work done, it's not very fun)

Decissioonnss.

^^ Oops. That was me. I'm NEVER logged out, seeing as I'm the only one who uses this computer. Odd. I wonder why they logged me out?

Who knows! I'm mad because I missed it (last night sleep seemed more important). It's supposed to be visible early tomorrow morning too though, so maybe I'll catch it then...

Hrm... I don't have a telescope. My parents do, but I don't. Do you think a pair of birdwatching binoculars would be adequate? Crud. I don't even really know what part of the sky to look at, and since this is Cleveland, I'll probably only be seeing cloud anyway.

You don't need anything special to see it with (of course, you'd be able to see a lot MORE with a telescope or binoculars).

Yeah I'm not sure the horizon is clear enough where I am either, but if you look at the article it gives you some basic directions to find it (provided you yourself know how to find the points of the compass where ya live).

I missed it last night, ended up choosing sleep - it seemed a good idea at 3 am. :)

I'm a space nerd myself, I tend to zone in and out of following it, though. I was up this morning, wish I caught your post earlier!

Cuuuuuuurses!!! I missed it!!!

I saw the big Jupiter asteroid event over a decade ago, though. A friend custom-built his own big-ass telescope just in time.
