some thoughts on Weekend Detention

Wow, that was a major accomplishment for lenaf007 and I last night! We're pretty proud of ourselves since we really do both love the story. I do notice a big difference when writing with her as opposed to writing alone. I think it's because we both have the same end goal in mind, we both know where its going, but we have different things we want to examine

Well I don't write fanfiction but I do like reading it, especially when it's well-written like yours.

If you want to use the original names, just do it. Most people who read YGO fanfic are used to them and if they don't, you can put at the beginning of the chapter a "4Kids x Original" changes list.

I was also "introduced" to the Yu-Gi-Oh! world thanks to 4Kids, and after watching the original episodes, the first thought that crossed my mind was "Whoa, how could they dumb down YGO so much?". Doom arc was full of character interaction and a deep, dark plot, the very opposite of the 4Kids version, which was simplified for the little kids (and had good scenes censored). At least we could see the light! :D

By the way, nice cliffhanger. I will wait patiently to find out what happened to Anzu.

We have considered changing the names often, especially once we bought and watched all of the subbed dvds. There's just so much more emotion when Yugi calls out "Anzu" than when he calls out "Tea". It looke like tea to me, like the thing I drink.

It's like they felt the audience would be nothing but six year olds, which I suppose is the case in some circles but certainly not all. Yu-Gi-Oh is an anime, and that style tends to draw older viewers mostly. Of course I still have people laugh at me when I say I watch the show for the characters. For most people it looks like a card selling vehicle, which in a sense it is. It's hard to argue the point when 4Kids isn't helping

After so long with a dry spell on that story, you're going to continue? If so, I'm happy to be a loyal reader and critique. I always use the English names for everyone, except for DUKE. I dislike that name, and I prefer to call him Otogi. No idea why. So whenever I launch into a rant about YGO and throw him in, I always have to specify, or people will be like WTFONABUN. Heh. I don't like Anzu though. Sounds like some kind of rare tropical venereal disease. Yuck.

Well we never really stopped writing on it, really. It just takes time for us to find moments when we both can be there writng together and our RLs are both very busy. If we didn't live together it would probably be even longer between updates. ;-) We're hoping to get the next chapter up within the next two months just because so much is happening action-wise, but don't hold us to that. Our schedules are pretty conflicting lately and I have a capstone to complete.

I love Otogi's name! Duke makes me think of the university or of John Wayne, which is just a disturbing thought. And of course Pegasus' name is the same, but is it his first name or his last? Maximillion Pegasus or Pegasus J. Crawford? I just sort of compromise by giving him both, resulting in one really long name lolz ^_^

And now that you mention it Anzu really does sound like a venereal disease omgwtflmfao!

Poor Anzu. X) Oh and her name means "apricot" btw ;p So, it's tropical, but not a disease unless you really don't like apricots XD

When I read Memoirs of a Geisha, apricot-shaped hairstyles symbolized a virgin ready to accept bids for her first sexual encounter o.O
