i've recently discovered facebook, as well, so do a search for me. i'm not sure if i know what your last name is, even from your profile info. mine is in my profile.

RE: the highlights - they look a little drab in 1 and 2, and not overly bright in the rest, though i'm not sure i'd want the highlights in the water any brighter in 3-5 anyway.

beautiful images, though - lovely feel to them.

and why no shampoo?

Thanks for your input on the highlights, Pei. I toned them down a bit as they seemed preposterously bright on my very bright monitor, but perhaps I overdid it. Note to self: must keep pictures bright ( ... )

I've been flirting with the idea of packing in shampoo for years, but as I'm starting a new job don't want to render myself horribly antisocial while I acclimatise. How often did you rinse your hair while giving it up? Was it horribly itchy at first? Did it smell?

I don't think I've actually met someone who went through with it who didn't have dreads, so I wonder how you got on.

You're back!

I love all of them, especially the second (the tracks make it look really interesting) and the fourth. The geometry in all of them is really nice! I'm afraid I can't comment on the calibration though, with my uncalibrated monitor. If only I could be in some place like that right now!

Would the tree featured in the first two be a pandanus palm?

Thanks for the kind words, S. I wish I could be back on Fraser now, myself. It´s easily one of the most beautiful places I´ve been to.

Yes, that´s a pandanus palm you see in the first two pictures. (And in No. 5, as well, but it´s hard to tell.) I kept looking for a really photogenic one, but came up empty-handed. Thankfully, there were plenty of other photogenic trees on the island. I'll post those later...

Oh, and I'm going to steal that icon if you don´t mind. Another one for my collection. Wheeeee!

Ooh, that one. Really adorable shape! Looking forward to more trees!

My collection of Aragorn/Lord of the Rings icons is too huge to be healthy. But I'll never stop collecting! Really wish I could find time to watch/read LOTR again.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you that the toning in these photos is really fitting and fantastic :) Maybe I'll try it someday? I adore your photos.

Ugh. ;)

I like the last picture a lot. (And that "awful light" is great. :-P)

By the way, I am on facebook too (click).

... listening to tATu...

Yep. 'fraid so. I will never be able to hear "All the Things She Said" again without seeing images of Fraser Island before my mind's eye, or to think of Fraser Island without hearing the words "this -- is -- not -- enough!" in the back of my mind.

Ugh. ;)

Oh, come on! Whatever happened to a little patriotism? :-)

I like the last picture a lot.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear it. It's my least favourite of the bunch, but I couldn't not take it.

By the way, I am on facebook too...

Then you, too, shall be added, Sir. Cool!

Let's not go there. :-P

Yay, you're back! :)

The photos are nicely composed, but they do look a little flat. I have a similar problem with mine looking really DARK when I see them on other computers. Sigh.

Yep, and glad to be so! :-)

Monitor trouble is horrible, isn't it? It's so frustrating to spend hours working on pictures which are then seen completely differently by others. I'll obviously have to do a little more monitor tweaking. I'm not sure what else I can tweak (I've spent hours on it already), but I'll give it a shot...

I'm enjoying your Rome pictures, by the way. I'm going to Rome next month, so if you have any tips on where to go, other than the blatantly obvious ones, I'd love to hear them!
