For the final instalment of my Australian Clichés series, I give you... beaches! Well, a beach, anyway. Other beaches will follow later

It's a gorgeous beach! Or rather, two gorgeous beaches. Definitely some of the more beautiful stretches of sand I've seen in my life.
I did get one shot of a wallaby on the beach, but wasn't happy enough with it to post it here. The wallaby was sitting in a relatively unphotogenic part of the beach, and there were lighting problems, as well. It's a pity, as there really should have been a wallaby photo in this post. :-)
Thanks, S. I appreciate that! I rather fell in love with the orange rocks and the turquoise water, but I'm not sure the combination of the two really works. There's a bit too much colour there for my taste. How's that for a silly complaint? :-)
Thanks, Alb! I'm glad to hear it. The best Australia photos are still very much to come, so stay tuned. :-)
The Freycinet beaches were quite amazing. I had a fantastic day there. I just wish I had brought a wide-angle lens with me, so that I really could have done them justice...
there's something about the last photo that is hugely appealing. it gives me the strongest urge to want to be there swimming right now instead of sitting here at the computer.
in the second one, it appears as if the rocks themselves aren't orange, but are covered with a biotic growth of some sort. around here, that would be due to the presence of lichen [some of which are bright yellow and orange] growing on the rocks.
That's how I feel about the last photo myself. Hence my remark that with hindsight, I kick myself for not taking a swim there. It seems like the most obvious place for a swim in the world, doesn't it? I may send the shot to a tour operator, publisher of guidebooks or something of the sort...
The orange stuff on the rocks is indeed lichen. It's very distinctive. I loved visiting all those orange-coloured rock beaches!
