This will be the silliest comment you get today, I'm sure, but that pose just makes me ashamed. What a lovely straight back! If I sat like that I'd be slouching everywhere... *hangs head*

I'm sorry, it's just that really caught my eye!

Bah, that's not a silly comment at all... It caught my eye, too. She has very good posture in general, but it shows more in this picture than in most, I think, because she was sitting on a very uncomfortable rock which didn't allow for any comfy slouching. Also, I may very well have told her to sit up straight, as I am the kind of über-demanding, über-perfectionistic and über-obnoxious photographer who does that kind of thing.

Come on, you can give me something sillier than that!

This is fantastic! I love how even though everything is in shadow, her figure is clearly defined from the background. That is a real nice job in the composition of this shot.

I love the framing also, I am a big fan of negative space. I love how even though there is no doubt as to what the subject is here, my eye still has to wander a bit to make sure I don't miss anything.

The one thing I would like to see though, is the dark areas to be darker. It may just be my monitor, or the way the internet seems to fade colors a bit, but I think this would "pop" even more than it does if the shadows were darker - without blowing out the highlights.

How does this work for you? I think it's a bit too dark, but it's definitely bolder.

The more I look at it, the more I like this dark version, so I'm going to replace the pic. Thanks for the suggestion -- much obliged!

Yeah, I like that better, I am always inclined toward lots of contrast, it gives more "richness" to an image.

I think that if you had cropped this square, or even centered your subject it would have watered down the image a lot. I like how your cropping implies the continuation of the tunnel even though you cannot see it. It is a very nice lead in to her figure. Kudos!

I have not made an announcement yet, because I am afraid of jinxing it. I don't have it in writing yet, but the other bidders were told to take a hike and I have a verbal agreement that the place is mine! Right now we are in the process of getting inspections and going over paperwork-lots of paperwork!

Zen! Ha. I hadn't looked at it that way. Do you think I should submit it to zen_photo, then? :-)

Sure, why not? You could call it "Now and Zen"...

Mmmm... dark caves. For that you get the Dragonskin.

Nice use of negative space, saturation, contrast, excellent pose blah blah blah...

All I think of when I look at this is the song you are (were) listening to.

"We are two mariners, our ship's sole survivors, in this belly of a whale."

Great, now I have to go through all eight minutes of that damn thing.

Christ, Mort. I'll never be able to look at the picture again without imagining that K is sitting inside the belly of whale. So thanks for that.

Good song, though. Quite worth sitting through for eight minutes. :-)
