Two more forgotten Egyptian snapshots

Today's pics: walls, doors and a sullen-looking girl.

After cruising along the Nile for half a day and visiting both Kitchener's Island and the ruins of an ancient Christian monastery in the desert, we spent some time in a ferociously hot Nubian village near Aswan, where we had lunch with a local family.

Aw, thanks. :-)

I hope to check out these bright-coloured Cape Town houses for myself one day. A combined tour of South Africa and Namibia is very high on my travel wish list. :-)

I'm getting through it, I think.

the first one is a classic, isn't? I think that the darkness of the door really makes it out of the ordinary, as this shot is so often done, but here, I like that element of it.

There can never be too much darkness in a photo... or so I have heard :)

Yeah, it's a simple shot -- nothing out of the ordinary, really. And yet there's something about the colours and the contrast between the light and the dark that I really like. And I think I nailed the composition. It's extremely simple, but it works. For me. :-)

I'm beginning to agree with you on darkness in photos. You'll be pleased to hear I have some dark pictures coming up!

I love the balance and simplicity of the first one and the interesting geometry compositions for the second photo.

Those are exactly the things I like about them. Well, those and the pretty colours, obviously. :-)

Thanks!
