I prefer this version. the lines/composition are wonderful and I think they are being at their best in B/W.

I concur. I posted the colour version because it's a colour series, but I infinitely prefer the square black-and-white version.

i prefer this version, as well - i found the other shelf a bit distracting in the 1st version, but this really captures the essence of the photo.
