Windows (colour)

To prove that not everything in Morocco is ornate (although much is), here are two windows in an old casbah. I both love and hate how there isn't a single straight line or right angle in the photo -- geometry turned on its head, as it were.

I prefer the black-and-white version myself, because I think the composition is better in that one. But you're right, this one does have a painterly quality, if I do say so myself. :-)

Thanks!

Thanks for setting up such a wonderful community, and for keeping it moderated! Moderation is definitely the way to go, I think.

I like both these, but I think I prefer the colour one. I like the brown shutter against the overall blueness and also the alcoves in the right hand wall. I can see what you mean about the tighter cropping making for a better composition but I'm not sure I entirely agree.

So you think this is the better version, as well? That's interesting. To my mind, the square one is clearly the better photo, but if you like colours, then yes, the colour one will be more to your taste. And I get the impression you are a colour girl, just like malady_dome. Whereas I myself tend to go for the simplest option, which in this case happens to be the black-and-white version...

Interesting to hear your take, even if I respectfully disagree! :-)

I'm not sure about better; there seems to be quite a lot more blank floor in the colour one etc. Just saying that my personal preference is the colour one.

And I get the impression you are a colour girl
You're probably right although I often enjoy looking at B&W work and have even been known to do some myself. ;-)

If we all agreed about everything, the world would be a much more boring place.

Definitely. I'm all for personal preferences. So feel free to disagree with me, by all means! :-)

This has to be one of the more intriguing responses I've had to my photos. I think I know what you mean, though. And it now occurs to me that I haven't read any Borges in ages, so...
