Posted at the request of mortsleam, who wanted to see what the different halves of this photo (which you've seen as two separate pictures) looked like reunited.
For a while I was the only one who listed "old-fashioned weapons" among her interests, but I recently seem to have got some company. I still appear to be the only one who likes obsessing over linguistic matters, though. I wonder whether that would change if I changed it to "obsessing about linguistic matters", or even "linguistics". There must be hundreds of people out there who list "linguistics".
Anyhow. That doesn't matter, I suppose. Have a good Labor Day weekend, and see you around!
Very nice. And quick response to my request as well. Even very nicer. (;{=
I agree that the separate pictures show off the texture more effectively, and the umbrella really does need to be on the left as in the original picture. So I can see why you made the cropping decisions that you made. Still, if you wanted, the umbrella can be moved with Photoshop and the ever popular clipping paths...
Nah, I think I'll keep it this way. As I said, I'm quite satisfied with the separate pictures; I don't think this one adds enough to those to go through the whole process of moving elements (shudder). Those clipping paths scare the shit out of me. :-)
Anyhow, I'm glad we seem to agree on this. Capital!
This and the other two close ups have dutifully been saved in my "My Pictures" folder for future inclusion in an urban decay painting series, along some Russian rusty door pictures and your aforeposted (not a real word) almost-abstract iron bars and splotches picture.
The great thing about painting is, unlike photoshop, I don't need to fool around with clipping paths. If I want something on the left side of the picture, I just put it there. Takes a bit longer, though...

At one time there was someone else who listed inane obsessions, but now I seem to be the only one.
Looking forward to seeing more of your lovely photos.

(I wish I could paint. I really do. You're a lucky bastard, you.)
Good luck with your urban-decay series!
