It's interesting how time, dirt, bird poop, etc, all define the statues and make them more interesting to see...

Great captures (as usual!)

Yes, time has a great effect on statues. It's so picturesque. I'm looking forward to showing you the colour photos I took at the Melatenfriedhof. Some of those mossy graves look luridly green.

Anyhow, thanks (as usual!).

Beautiful. Those cherubs in 2 and 3 are very eerie. They remind me of a scene in Silent Hill 4, where childrens faces start to appear in the wall over time. :S

Silent Hill 4? I've never played that, not being much of a gamer. Your description sounds interesting, though. And eerie. Brrr. :-)

Yeah, I'm a bit obsessed with that particular series! I found a pic actually: http://z-o-g.org/albums/sh4caps/sh4_caps_207.jpg

Bit dark, but you get the idea. XD

Unfortunately, the link doesn't work. All I get is a bandwidth-stealing GIF saying, "Please copy the pictures and host on your own space." Sorry! :-)

i have loved looking at these photos. the textures in them are all so perfect. and the detail in the 2nd photo here is very interesting, though a little creepy.

Thank you. I'm glad you appreciate them. There are many more to come. :-)

So you find cherubs creepy, eh? Interesting, that...

Funny, I wouldn't have described the first one as c*** at all. Although, to be fair, not being overly familiar with religious iconography, I might have mistook the halo for razor wire. (;{=

You don't think she's c***? You mean she doesn't strike you as a sweet, little French shepherdess who'd waltz down a green, hilly slope on her own, to the imperturbable amusement of her sheep? I can totally see her do it...

I think I may have to whip you for "mistook". For shame, Morty. Bad boy.

OK, I am laughing really hard on this one... more so in a previous context. Good thing I had my office door closed.

thanks! (and for the pics too)

You're welcome. And now perhaps you'll take my word for certain things, yes...?

Before my trip to Paris I checked out Findagrave.com because I love checking out cemetaries with interesting headstones, statues, mausoleums, etc. I am fascinated by it all, especially the macabre aspect of it all. Thank for sharing!

Ah, another LJ friend who shares my morbid streak. Good. One can't have too many of those. :-)

I've bookmarked the Findagrave site. At first glance, it seems a bit too US-centred for my purposes, but I'm sure I'll find some interesting stuff there if I dig hard enough. At any rate, thanks for the heads-up!

ooh you have no idea! I was obsessed with archaeology since I was 5 and would have studied it if the program wasn't soooo long, so I took History instead. But yes, crypts, catacombs and cemetaries are my favourite places!

Hmm, maybe I should post a few photos

Yes, do post some pictures. I'd love to see them. I take it you visited the Catacombs and Père Lachaise when you were in Paris? My LJ friend blackannis238 just posted some lovely photos of those. You can find them in her photo journal, sekhmet238.

Have you been to Egypt?
