After the glittering-glass inferno that is present-day Toronto, I thought I should give you some India photos for a change. Because I am, as always, a sucker for contrast, and well, you just don't get a chance to shoot pictures like this in downtown Toronto. Although I heard a thing or two about a cow parade which supposedly terrorised that city a

Nice cow pictures.
I wanted to e-mail you, and in order to preserve the sanctity of your last e-mail, wanted to use your "actual" e-dress. Only to find that a large quantity of achived e-mails have disappeared into a certain mysterious singularity (which was, incidentally, a large part of the subject of the e-mail I wanted to send). If you are in anyway up for it, and would also like to preserve the sanctity, please e-mail me at my gmail account.
Again, nice cow pictures.
Sincerely,
dotsevendot the upsidedownman

I should stress that I don't have your "actual" e-mail address anymore, and that was specifically what I was asking for here.

I went to India, but was a bit apprehensive about taking pics, though nothing like this came up, which would have been fine to take pictures of.
May be it is the size, or my vision, but I do not see much of a out-of-focus problem. That said, what version of Photoshop do you have? There can be some correction done there, if you would like to make it sharper, or bring out more texture from the building and tiles. I thinks sharpening and textures will be topic that will be discussed on ps_grasshopper... once I get back home and get started with posting.
cheers!

I'm sorry to hear that you went to India and were apprehensive about taking pictures. What an eternal pity. In my opinion, India is one of the most photogenic countries on earth. I'm dying to go back there one day with a proper camera.
Speaking of proper cameras and high-quality photos, I managed to solve the (perceived?) out-of-focus problem with my India photos somewhat by using an unsharp mask and upping the contrast in Photoshop. However, both this photo and some of the others I'll be uploading in the next few days still strike me as slightly unsharp. They're not blurry exactly; they just don't have that razor-sharp quality that some other people's photos (such as your own) have. But I guess they'll have to do. :-)
As for Photoshop, I use Photoshop 7. I think I know how to go about sharpening, but I'd love to learn how to bring out textures, so I'll definitely keep an eye on ps_grasshopper. Thanks for letting me know about it!
I guess I'll talk to you later...
Adios!

Yes, the apprehension turned to some regret later... there was so much texture and character, but I just did not know how to go about it. Not sure that I can, were I to visit again.
The method you used is the obvious one, and I did it for a while. You have to move into layers so that you can unsharp without much "halo" effects to live with... so we will cover that, for sure. I just read about an even better approach to sharpening only possible in PS (until now I had Elements), so it will be good to go over that one. Make sure you join, since the posts are to be friends-only.
Hasta luego!
