Yard pretty, road bad.

We're snowed in; I haven't had a caregiver in since Monday. And it looks like it may last through Christmas. Which means no Christmas presents, no groceries for Christmas dinner. Not that I'll need presents and festive groceries if nobody can get here. I'll have to ration the Diet Coke if I don't want to spend next week with a headache, though ( Read more... )

I hope the snow behaves itself and reduces to merely picturesque levels shortly. Power, internet and health to you!

Thank you! That means a lot to me.

Look on the bright side: if nobody can get there, then you won't have to stress about the invasion of all those people, you introvert, you.

You know, when somebody says "look on the bright side," I always think of that scene from the Monty Python film with all those guys on crosses singing...

If nobody comes, we'll have Christmas later, and it will be fine. What would really annoy me would be if the present deliveries didn't get through but the relatives were able to. I mean, I'd be glad they were here, but sad to have no presents for them.

And your package will probably be arriving between Epiphany and Valentine's, alas.

Snowed in? Crikey. I hope you have everything you need. What a challenge for Christmas. Good luck - hope the Internet holds up so you can keep us informed.

Thank you. I'm sure we'll be all right; at the present it's more annoying than alarming. I don't intend to worry unless the power goes off.

I sincerely hope that doesn't happen. Not that I know personally, but being snowed in is vexing enough at a time like this. Digits crossed, including toes.

Hee! Don't get your toes tangled on my account; you've got enough on your plate as it is. ::hugs::

Eek! Hope it eases off soon (peeks out at blue sky...)

We had hail last night (in December! Unheard of!) and it looks like it'll be a cool Christmas for us...

Hail? Now, see, I like hail. As long as nobody gets hurt. I like snow, too, it's just inconvenient. But I'm sure we'll be fine, thank you.

I confess that I can never get over the idea of Christmas in summer. I have a hard enough time imagining it in California. :D

This would be why we do "Christmas in July"-type stuff. Others can't get over it either :-)

It is bizarre, though, going by a general religious calendar meant for an entirely different hemisphere, where we celebrate renewal and rebirth when things are dying off for winter, let alone a winter festival when it's blazing hot.

It really does seem odd. I guess you just have to think of it as some of your imported heritage.
