First things first: I'm fine.

Now, the rest of the story: I've been living in a Federal disaster area since last week. ( Read more... )

We'll be waiting :) I suppose, however, that mentions of snow are now verboten, because you've had enough for a while?

Oh, and other kinds of weather (like the storm the meteorology people think is hovering somewhere near my house), for that matter. I think I picked up on 'snowstorm' and forgot the watery bit, pretty much because mentions of snow in an Antipodean Christmas tend to drive me batty...

I actually like weather! When other people have weather, I often wish for it. But it's sometimes inconvenient.

!!! I'm glad you're all right, and I hope you're back with us more permanently soon. A happy Christmas and New Year to you too if I don't 'see' you before then. [hugs]

I was thinking of that icon of yours when I posted. :) Everything is back to normal now, except I'm still waiting on the computer. I hope to be able to wish everyone Happy New Year at the proper time (fingers crossed).

I've been thinking that a backup computer is a good thing, too.

That and a thumb drive for backups. I'm compiling a shopping list. :)

As long as you're okay, everything else can sort itself out...

Have a good Christmas :)

Those are very wise words, which I'd like to endorse! Hope things are on the up very soon.

As I scroll up and down my friends' page, I keep reading it as "I've been living in a Federation disaster area". So remember, things could be worse!

!! You're right, that would be much worse! Something to be thankful for. :)

We had the same situation in October although our power outage was very brief, unlike the rest of Buffalo. No internet or phone for three days, though. How in the world did our ancestors manage without?

I suppose the upside was the enormous jump in attendance at the community college where I work. The kids came to school because there was heat and electricity there!

Hah! Maybe attendance at school and at work would be better if we had the power shut off to residences during the day. :^)
