Oh, no, NaNo!

NaNoWriMo starts in six hours, so of course I am secong-guessing my novel's plot/characters/everything. Not that it has much of a plot, which is the problem--I have characters that I like, and a vague idea of the story's point, but no real plot. I'm tempted to throw it out and start from scratch. If you use a good idea, you will have 50,000 words of a good idea that you may eventually polish into something useable. If you use a bad idea, you will have 50,000 words.

In theory, I know that you're right, but revising is my absolute weakest skill. Well, second weakest, next to plotting. ::sigh:: Okay, use good idea, check.

Word to this. I'm fully aware that what comes out of NaNo for me is going to need steep revisions (of the print-it-out-and-mark-with-red-pen type). I am slowing coming to grips with that fact, but I have a feeling it will haunt my month.

Ah well.

I think my revisions are going to be more of the save-five-paragraphs-and-delete-the-rest type. :(

But I guess the experience will be good for me.
