Ah, I came across a request today for Gumshoe being a big loving supportive friend, and man I just couldn't resist writing it. The story's short, and since I don't really have any experience with canon, it may be all kinds of foozled up, but ... well I don't know, I enjoyed writing it so that's worth something, right? Gumshoe just melts me. I

This whole thing is beautiful as well as tear-inducing. *hug* I promise to leave a longer comment later, but for now... I meant what I said when I told you how talented you are at pulling and tripping the heartstrings. *nods*
Why can't I change canon? Can't you reapply for a license after a period of time? *begs you to make it better somehow*

I like this take on canon: Phoenix fucked up, then continued to fuck up, then gets the stupid fucked out of him, retakes the bar, and life goes back to what it should've been.
Or hell, maybe he's happy as a hobo. I mean, he became a lawyer so he could save Miles, which he did, but--
NOPE. I CAN'T EVEN CONTINUE. HE NEEDS TO RETAKE THE BAR AND BE A LAWYER 'CAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE LOVES.
*curls up to cry with you* Goddamnit.

I can't blame him if he doesn't. I'm not sure I'd want to go back to a job where the police aren't fond of you, the witnesses lie to you, and even your own clients mislead and insult you. Plus you have prosecuters who are allowed to whip, and throw coffee at you while insulting you.
So I can see why he may think playing piano is a better deal.

Yeah okay fine, piano's probably a safer job. But from what I understand of canon, Phoenix sacrificed a lot to go into law, and for him to have to give it up because he fucked up once or twice seems really unfortunate. I think I'd rather see it go in the direction of fanon and have him teaching in a law school or going back into acting/painting/whatever his artistic preferences were. And get back with Edgeworth. 'Cause they're a fun team, platonically or romantically. *sniffle*
He needs a better job if he's going to put Trucy through school, anyway. Seriously.
