I'm sure others of you have been in this position: Loads to write, and you don't know where to start! And it's been so long, and so much has happened it's hard to know what to put down

Seems like mostly good stuff, complete with challenges that will make it all the sweeter when you've triumphed!!
Has your vet considered testing Fizz for a condition called acromegaly? I don't think the test is complicated, but from what I saw of it on the Feline Diabetes board when I volunteered there, it seemed like the acro-kitties tended to have wildly higher doses than the other dia-kitties. (Because acro isn't really diabetes, it's another condition entirely with overlapping symptoms) Anyway, short version, it might be a thing to look into if his dose keeps going up, but his glucose and symptoms aren't reining in. The B12 should do super stuff for the hocking!
Thanks for this. We haven't had him tested for it as the test is apparently very expensive, plus we've only just got his levels to stop swinging wildly in the last few weeks.
He does seem to have an enlarged belly (although perhaps it just looks out of proportion compared to his skinny legs?), and we are giving him 30 units of insulin a day - so perhaps he is a candidate for acromegaly. I can hope not, as the prognosis online isn't good...but I guess we're on borrowed time anyway as it is. I'm not sure having that definitive diagnosis is worth the payment for the test, as radiation seems to be the treatment and we can't afford that anyway? A good question for the vet, it seems.
Hmm, that sucks that it is expensive. :( And, true, there is no real point to it if the treatment is not feasible. However, acro kitties also can have pain, and alleviating that can be important. Meh. And hugs. I remember there was one woman on the FD boards whose cat was getting 85IU 2x daily! Can you imagine? Holy crap.
