According to the spokesman of the Albino Anti-Defamation League, there have been 68 films since 1960 to feature evil albinos. Tsk, tsk. For shame!

While I agree that the film shouldn't be banned and that it targets no religious affiliations or belief, as it is a work of fiction, I understand why some do. The Catholic Church knows that asking people not to see the film is giving it a lot of free publicity but it is something that must be done to emphasize the point that the church does not support it. A lot of those who will watch the film will not analyze its content and probably accept the logic behind the story as the truth (I know someone who thought that Jamie from "a walk to remember" lived). Especially since there are a lot of half-truths and half lies presented convincingly as the truth. Hence, the Opus Dei's request for a disclaimer. Not everyone can think; our politicians should be proof enough of that.

Well, then I guess democracy just might not be the best form of government for the Philippines.

I wish we had a Singaporean-type kind of dictatorship. Too bad giving some Philippine leader that kind of power would most likely mean a lot of abuse.

And besides, I'd want people to hate a bad movie for the RIGHT reasons. If I watch DVC and turn out to be bored to tears, I'd blast it not because of its half-truths, but because it sucks. Plain and simple.

I've heard that people here wanted King Kong banned, though I have no idea why. these people seem to be more afraid that these movies will cause people to use their brains, which is really a futile endeavor for most of this country since those who listen to their crap probably don't have any anyway.

It's them being lazy. Instead of stepping up to addressing the issues presented by this or that film, they ban it so they don't have to.

That's why the initial CBCP statements were good. They wanted to be ready to answer questions about the film, more than asking people to be hush-hush about it.

I hope they follow through with that, because a lot of kids who get to watch this will have oodles of questions...
